The game explains it all. For extra info, the blue diamond shield things are shields. They last for 10 seconds and protect you from debris. The pink diamond heart things are just extra lives, which, as the name suggests, give you extra lives. Beyond Time, Space, Fast and Hard are four special modes with their own quirks. A whole maze of objects swarms you in Beyond Hard, the objects dash towards you in Beyond Fast, Beyond Space has portals, objects with fluctuating sizes, and inverted controls, and Beyond Time is just downright confusing.
