Instructions

Mika knocked three times on an old acacia door that was peeling off at the edges. "Mason, Crow and Raven are here!" Mika called to her brother, smiling as she waited patiently for Mason. "Crow and Raven? Who are they?" asked a male voice. The voice was in between high-pitched and somewhat deep, and the voice sounded unhappy, and sort of annoyed at that. "They're the people that will help us, silly! I just told you about them a while ago! You should've known that they would come today!" Mika said, giggling and smiling, but Charles and Leo could sense the hints of annoyance and worry in her voice. "Now come on, so you'll know who will take away the speed demons!" "Ugh, /fine,/" the voice said. Charles and Leo heard the creak as the person got off of what he was sitting on, and they heard the creak of the floors as he walked across the room to open the door. The male looked like Mika in a way -- short blue hair, purple eyes, fair skin with a slight tan. The only thing that was different was that his eyes were colder, and his expression was meaner and unwelcoming. "Hey, Crow and Raven. I'm Mason Edwardson, brother of Mika," the boy said, giving a slight nod as a greeting. Leo and Charles returned the nod. "Nice to meet you, as well, Mason," Charles said. "So, have you seen the creature Mika has been talking about recently?" Mason shook his head. "It must have been some sort of nightmare or something that Mika had. I haven't seen anything like the creature Mika keeps describing to me constantly," Mason said, his face deadpan, and his voice noting that he didn't want to be in this conversation. "And there's no way the creature could look like Mother. Mika must have been reading those stupid horror magazines again." "They're not stupid! There's real horror creatures and real people who saw them in those magazines! Why do you think HCHQ comes out weekly and has video specials?" Mika asked defensively, crossing her arms and glaring at her brother. "HCHQ?" asked Leo, looking at Mika with a confused look on his face. "Horrific Creatures Head Quarters," Mason replied. "It's-" "It's a weekly horror magazine that puts in real horrific creatures and the people that experienced them in real life!" Mika interrupted, smiling. "They also have weekly video specials on Horrify Channel on the Holoscreen's Live Videos app. It's the most amazing thing! You must watch it!" Mika shuddered with excitement and reminiscing. "I saw many creatures -- spirits, vampires, dolls, even the speed demons!" "Speed demons? Now that makes it even sillier," Mason said. "There's no such thing as speed demons, Mika. You know that good and well." "Look, it doesn't matter what you believe, Mason. We're here to help, and that's what we're going to do," Leo said, noticing Mika's snarl. "Mika, can you draw what the demon looks like?" "Wait, are you feeding into her imagination?" Mason asked. "Don't encourage her!" "It's what we do with everyone that gives us a mission," Charles said simply. "A mere process, Mason." Mika stuck her tongue out at Mason before running off to her room, coming back a few minutes later with a pencil, colored pencils, and some printer paper. "I'll draw at Mason's desk," Mika said, ignoring her brother's frown as Charles and Leo followed Mika in the room. Mika sat at the acacia desk and got to work on the monster she saw. After a few moments, she exclaimed, "Done!" and showed Charles and Leo the drawing. "It has every detail you described," Leo said. "Yeah," Charles replied, nodding. "The black stick bug body, the long spider legs, the oval shaped face, the brown shower hair, the large, deranged eyes..." "And it looks like a motherly face even with the eyes and smile," Leo said. "But... what is that slime?" asked Charles. "It looks like it's coming out of two small, deformed legs that come in between each pair of legs." "Yeah, it will use the slime if it wants something to get stuck. I saw the speed demon use it on a mouse," Mika said. "A mouse? I though that was just some sort of honey," Mason said, confused. "Nope," Mika said, shaking her head. "That was the slime that shoots out of the speed demon. It tried to stick me to the floor that night, but I got to my room on time, so I was safe from getting stuck." "That's a good thing, Mika. Now we have a idea of what this demon looks like. Now, we just have to get Dove and tell her about it," Charles said, standing up straighter. Leo did the same. "Thanks again, Mika. We'll see you both soon," Leo said. "See you, Crow and Raven!" Mika said, waving as the brothers left the room, heading for Celestina and Finnegan.
