"This is Cautious Cove?" Celestina asked, surprised and disgusted as she pulled green, slimy seaweed off of her now sand and rock encrusted heeled boots as she maneuvered through the coast of Cautious Cove. "It's so sandy and salty and slimy and rocky. My gray heeled boots can't handle this!" "That's why you don't wear your trendy clothes market shoes to a beach," Leo said, smirking as Celestina shivered in the cold, salty coastal winds. Celestina shrieked loudly all of a sudden, wiping frantically at her face. She had thrown seaweed off of her boots, and the seaweed rode in the wind -- onto her face. Leo and Finnegan burst out laughing, and even Charles let out a small chuckle. Charles walked over and pulled the two pieces of seaweed off of Celestina's face. He set them near the tide so the tide would sweep them up and let them reunite with the ocean. "Thank you, /Charles./ I'm /so/ glad you /helped/ me, instead of just /laughing/ at me," Celestina enunciated, glaring at Leo and Finnegan, who fell quieter, but still chuckled quietly. "The message said that we need to find a two story house with pale purple walls and a blue roof," Charles said, ignoring Celestina and the others. "It says 'Edwardson Residence' on the door on a bronze plaque-like sign. Let's go. Celestina, you can take Finnegan to the market and buy him some of the Cloud Fluff the faeries, mages, and angels make." "It's called Cotton Candy here, since there's Fallen Angels here, and we can't tell the Fallen Angels that they didn't invent Cloud Fluff. They'll be devastated," Finnegan said. "Wow, you actually studied something, Finnegan," Leo said, smirking. "Well, it was about sweets, so-- wait, you don't study scrolls at home either!" "I study more than you! What are you talking about?!" Leo yelled at Finnegan, already annoyed by his brother. "Enough, enough," Charles said, putting his holoscreen in the inside pocket of his jacket. "Let's go." --- Charles knocked three times on the door, him and Leo waiting for someone to answer. After a few moments, a girl with blue hair and purple eyes answered. She looked about 15, and her fair skin -- not too pale but not quite tan -- looking slightly grey in the foggy, cloudy, windy setting. "Hello, are you Mika?" Leo asked, smiling slightly. The girl smiled. "Why, yes, I am Mika!" she replied, smiling warmly at the brothers. "I'm the one who told you about Mason and I's paranormal sightings! So you must be Crow--" looking at Charles, "-- and Raven." She looked at Leo. "Yes, Mika, those are our names. So, can you explain these sightings?" asked Charles. "Yes, but please come in first! Maybe you both would like some tea?" offered Mika. "Sure, thank you," Charles said as Mika led the brothers inside. They walked through the family room to the dining room - a pale blue area with acacia wood siding, acacia wood floor, and a dining table that sat four people on each side, one at the top end, and one at the bottom end. Charles and Leo sat together. "Wait here while I pour the tea in," Mika said, smiling as she ran into the kitchen. She poured the boiling water from the turquoise kettle into the turquoise cups. She then put some mint green tea bags into the cups, taking the bag in and out of the water until it turned a green color. She put the bags back in the cups, picked up the cups and took them in to Charles and Leo, who chorused a "Thank you," to Mika. Mika nodded and prepared her own tea, coming back with her own cup. She sat down at the side opposite of Charles and Leo, smiling at them. "I suppose I should tell you about the sightings," Mika said, and Charles and Leo nodded simultaneously. Mika sighed and closed her eyes, taking a sip of her tea, then smiled and looked up at the brothers. "Mason and I have been seeing... demons of sorts. I'd hate to be informal, but speed demons, if you will." Charles nodded, and Leo said, "It's okay if you don't know about types of demons. Do go on. What did one of them look like?" "Well, it had a black stick bug body. It also had eight black, skinny legs, almost like long spider legs. And it's face... it was pale, it's eyes were wide and deranged. It had a creepy, white, toothy smiled with all long, huge canine teeth. Its smile was so wide, it looked like it could touch it's ears. Its head is an oval shape, almost cartoon-like, but hyper-realistic at the same time. It's hair went a little past its chin and it was long and stringy, like if someone stepped out of a shower without drying their hair long afterwards. But there was one thing about this creature that frightened me the most." Mika shuddered, and took a large gulp of her tea before saying, "This speed demon... was the same height and had the same features of my mother." Charles's and Leo's eyes widened, Charles barely making out the quiet, simple words, "Your... mother?" "My mother," Mika said, a serious, frightened look on her face. "And it couldn't have actually been my mother, because I had seen her(...)
(...) a minute before I left her room to go to my room. That's when I saw the speed demon. It was just smiling at me, its head cocked to the side eerily. I was frozen in shock and fear, I couldn't do anything. That's when it started its crawl-sprint towards me. I screamed and started running toward my room. Luckily, it didn't catch me, but my mother thought I was having a nightmare or just saw a small spider or ran into a cobweb." Mika sighed shakily, and Charles could see her shaking. "Mika, we're going to help you get the demon out of your house," Leo said, smiling warmly, apologetically, and professionally at the same time. "There's nothing to worry about." Mika stopped shaking and smiled at Leo. "Thank you, Raven," Mika said, smiling. "So, should we meet Mason?" asked Charles, trying to change the subject. Mika's face lit up. "Yes, yes! He's just upstairs! We can go see him now!" Mika exclaimed, standing up. Charles and Leo smiled warmly as they followed Mika up the stairs, excited and worried to see what Mason has to say about it. {}{}{} End of Chapter 2 Previous: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/582517598/ Next: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/584903767/
