Instructions

Click the green flag to watch a spider build an orb web.

Description

Made for Scratchtober prompt 11: Cobweb. Because of time restraints, this is a very simplified, and a bit incorrect representation of how it actually works. For example, the first (auxiliary) spiral is actually removed as it spins a finer spiral with sticky thread, but I just didn't have time to do that. Orb webs are actually spun using four types of silk: two non-sticky types for the structure, a sticky type for capturing prey, and another sticky type for attaching each web anchor point to a surface. And they build these nets every day! I'm no spider expert, but this is what I learned from the Wikipedia article on spider webs. The music is Itsy Bitsy Spider, but the Swedish version - "Imse Vimse Spindel". It's the same melody, but the rhythm might be a bit different due to a different number of syllables in the song.
