The next morning was a weekend. I woke up around 7:30 am. The others were up as well. Calli was still asleep, but the twins and Naomi were awake. The four of us talked in the twins’s room while we waited. Once she woke up, the five of us ate breakfast. After breakfast, Calli went to talk with her mom, while the twins, Naomi, and I went into the twins’s dorm. “Wanna play Circle of Secrets again?” Harlow asked, grabbing a bottle from their dresser. Their room had a great view of the woods from the window. Brazen yanked up the blinds and sat on the floor. I shrugged. “Sure.” I had no huge secrets anymore, so I was game. Naomi nodded. The rest of us sat down, and Harlow spun the bottle. It landed on Naomi. “Well, my grandmother discovered a whole new world,” she said casually. “She /what/?” Brazen asked. “Who was your grandmother, and what world?” I asked. “Gwendolyn Peterson. We always called her Gwen, for short. And she discovered the world of... What did she call it? Oh right, Dorke. Also Elves. And a million other species. They are way ahead of us, year wise, though.” “Cool,” Harlow said. Naomi spun the bottle, and it landed on Harlow. “Um… I convinced Brazen to drink a sleep potion once. Most peaceful hour of my life,” she mused with a smile. Brazen and I laughed. “How?” Naomi asked. “I covered the room in shadows and handed him what I said was his water bottle. It was the sleep potion. Luckily it was in our room so I didn’t have to explain why Brazen was lying on the floor to our parents,” Harlow explained. “They were used to it by now,” Brazen replied. I spun the bottle, and it landed on Brazen. He was distracted though, looking out the window. “Hello, mister, it’s your turn,” Harlow said, waving her hand in front of his line of sight. He swatted at her hand and walked over to the window. “Um, guys?” Naomi, Harlow, and I stood and looked out the window with him. The woods, instead of their usual bright green, were a darker, more foreboding green. “The shadow part spread… but how?” Harlow asked, mostly to herself. Naomi and I exchanged glances. I could tell that she knew - or at least had the same theory - about who was behind this. “Cozbi,” we said together.
