FLASHBACK Maddy's now 9 years old. She had sweat dripping from her chin and down her back. "I can't keep going!" she shouted, trying to catch her breath. She's been at it for almost 6 hours straight. A voice over the intercom said, "Think of all the people who would have died because of your hesitation. You have to do it for others, even when it feels like you can't go on for yourself. That's what makes a good hero." She reactivated her quirk, feeling the adrenaline pumping through her veins. Even with the adrenaline though, she was still exhausted with fatigue. "I need water!" she cried out. She knew what heat stroke was, even if there wasn't any heat. Though she was soaked with it, she stopped sweating almost an hour ago and is severely dehydrated. The intercom came back on, but no longer did the man respond with a calm voice, "You get water when I say you can! Finish your exercise or you won't get any at all!" Maddy choked back a sob and nodded at the men in suits that she was supposed to be fighting against. Two of them charged her. She used her quirk and its reflexes to dodge one and trip the other. Soon, she had both of them tied up and on the floor. As soon as she stopped moving and the adrenaline deteriorated from her bloodstream, she collapsed onto the ground, her legs coming out from underneath her. This is how she lied nearly everyday since the corporation has taken her. Her only escape was the rare days and many late nights with her best friend Touya. Touya understood what it was like being worked to the bone, as his father forced him to train everyday. They talk about running away together all the time, but they both knew it would probably never happen. Though they've promised to stay together until the very end.
