Instructions

BAYLORD YAMA \\ god of fighting dogs CONTROLS >> > Hover over the menu icon in the top left to open it. >> Hover over options (versions & process) to open up the mini-menus. >> Click on options in the mini-menus to change things. (for process, press and hold click for a bit or it might not register. I'd reccomend holding click until it starts) VERSIONS > Normal >> The normal version, a fully rendered piece > Simple >> A simple version, with black shadows. (highly experimental) > V3 >> Normal with the black shadows PROCESS 1. Basic pose, just blocks of rough shapes 2. The basic sketch (with black shadows) the lineart is on top of this, reason being I never made a sketch of the head, I just expanded the head sketch into an entire lineart since the sketch was pretty clean. As you can see, added alot of detail on the previous one. 3. The lineart, with black shadows. I used a textured pen this time and i think it turned out okay? 4. Skin fill + shading, forgot to take a shot of the base colors. 5. Colored the lineart 6. Hair base color 7. Hair Shading (this one took a long time) I experimented alot more with colors 8. Shirt base color 9. Shirt shading 10. Jacket (forgot to export, so no base color) Really happy with how the shading turned out! 11. The details on his Jacket! 12. Base color on pants + ears 13. Pants shading (I actually forgot to export this one, so re-exported later, that's why his skin is a darker shade, I changed that in later touch-ups) 14. Claw! 15. Final version, with touch-ups and background. NOTES Whew, this took a long time... I spent almost a month on this and I spent way too long on the menu Alot of it is highly experimental, and that's why there are two versions. For the simple one, I decided to try and replicate some of the black shadows in the persona artsyle, and it kinda worked .? For the render itself, I experimented alot with colors, and I think it's pretty obvious (if you look closely, you'll find blue & green in the hair, blue & orange in the coat, red in the pants, etc.) but I think the end result ended up looking alot better than it normally does, so i'm sorta proud of myself. The inking took a really long time, not super great at it. I did a textured lineart, which is sorta uncommon for me, but I don't think the result was super obvious. (for those who are curious, I only used two brushes: "SU-Cream Pencil" by shitajung and "Overlap and adapt" from gyuukotu's fill set. Both are free on clip studio assets.) The character is Baylord Yama, a character from Tower of God (a Webtoon, by SIU) I haven't actually seen the anime, but I love the Webtoon a whole lot so I drew Yama, my favorite character from the series. (just a quick note, Yama is a S3 character so he's not yet in the anime .) Some background information on the character, he's the king of the canine people (basically, dog people) It's why "king of canines" is under his name in the top left. I wanted to put his sobriquet, "god of fighting dogs" there, but it was too long XD He's also FUG's 7th slayer. Somehow my favorite characters ended up being Yama and White, i just have a thing for slayers I guess ..??? Though this definitely affirms the fact I always end up liking the hotheaded and prideful characters or the cool, pretty ones who are (usually) really bad people, and nothing in between. (Yama falls into the hotheaded and prideful category, and White falls into the cool pretty boy category.) For those of you who haven't read Tower of God, you totally should! The length can be sorta intimidating but it's definitely worth your time. (not to mention all of it is free on a website, so everyone reading this right now could probably read it) If you haven't already, go read it right now!! It's a super great webtoon, and for those who don't want to read it because they don't like the art, it gets alot better later. The characters, story, fights, etc. are all really amazing,, I fell in love with it by the end of season 1. Also, for those of you wondering what his red claw is, it's his level one "transformation." Transformation is a power he uses to attack, so I wanted to draw him doing so. I've been trying to draw more dynamic poses, and thought this was a great oppurtunity to try! I missed a few details here and there, like on his jacket, but by the time I had realized it was way too late to fix so it stays that way I guess? That slash is also really tiny, if i was being accurate it would take up the whole screen though, and then there would be no drawing so it's tiny XD If you read all of that, I congratulate you, but you really shouldn't have. #baylordyama#yama#tog#towerofgod#canine#art#anime#webtoon
