His house was very large and spacious, shocking Maddy. She knew that he made a lot of money, but she never really thought of him as vain. "Why so big?" she asked. He grinned and spread his wings out wide, taking up at least 8 feet from his wingspan. "I wouldn't fit otherwise." Maddy rolled her eyes, she was right. He wasn't vain, it was just practical to have a lot of space. He went to the fridge and looked through it before taking out a container of watermelon. "You still like fruit?" he asked. She nodded, smiling slightly. "You remembered?" Watermelon and cantaloupe were always her favorites since they were kids. He shrugged, "I seem to be remembering a lot lately." Maddy grabbed the fork Hawks handed her and dug in. "You live alone?" she asked in between bites. He nodded, "Haven't had anyone over in a while actually. I'm never home unless I'm sleeping." Maddy raised an eyebrow, "Aren't you supposed to be on patrol about right now?" Now was Hawk's turn to raise a brow, "You know my schedule?" She looked away, "I've been watching and waiting to talk to you for a while now." Hawks rolled his eyes, "That's creepy, don't you think?" he joked. Maddy started to protest, but Hawks just laughed. Maddy watched his eyes crinkled at the corners, his nose scrunching up the tiniest bit like it used to when he was small. "Not much has changed about you," she mused. She walked up behind him an brushed her hands across the edges of his wings, "You can touch them if you want." he encouraged, fanning them out. She ran her fingers down the longer feathers then brushed her hand over the softer and shorter ones. "The bigger ones are sharp," she acknowledged. He nodded and grabbed one of the bigger ones, "I was trained to use them as swords, I can even duel wield them," he said as he swung it around before calling it back to his wings, it nestling in its spot. Maddy looked up at him, "Were you trained in hand to hand combat?" she asked. He nodded, "Of course, why do you ask?" She smirked and wrapped her hair into a bun, securing it with a rubber band. "I want to fight, see what the number two hero is made of," she explained Hawks tilts his head, "I'm assuming you've worked with your quirk since I've last seen you?" he asked. She looked at him with fierce eyes, "Absolutely."
