Go play @colinmacc's wonderful original game! This remix is just an excuse to rummage @colinmacc's code, and to try my new Scratch Cat costumes. I made the costumes used in High Res Mode in this remix, and some very minor changes to the code (noted inside, only in the Repton sprite). The rest is all @colinmacc (check his Credits). I shared a separate project with the Scratch Cat Waliking costumes used in this remix: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/571272758/
@colinmacc's Original Instructions, Notes & Credits: * MOBILE FRIENDLY * Arrow Keys (or WASD) - Move Repton Enter - Pause/Status M - Map (if available) E - Lose a Life R - Restart Level Q - Quit Game On mobile Repton can be controlled by swiping left, right, up or down. Full instructions inside the game. There are 80 levels in total. This is the project I would have liked to make 3 years ago if I'd have known what I was doing!! This is a complete rewrite of my previous Repton engine, allowing for a choice of screen size and sprite graphics, and includes a built-in level designer. The Settings screen gives the choice of graphics quality, and also the option to use the full screen area for the game, or a smaller area with a status display. (Mobile users should not use full screen!) Each sprite set has its own music ;) The Editor takes a bit of getting used to because you only see a quarter of the screen at once, but you can use the navigation keys to scroll around. On touch screens, just touch the screen past the edge to scroll in that direction. Unfortunately Scratch does not support copying the level codes on a mobile (yet) Repton is a puzzle game, and some of the puzzles are complicated to solve. You should use the map to plan your route, as if you make a wrong move you will have to restart the level. Note that not all levels allow the map to be used! There are 10 "scenarios" of 8 levels each. You can start playing any scenario, but they are generally arranged in order of difficulty. When you complete a level you get a diamond icon for that level on the Level Select screen, and the next level becomes available. You can also save and reload your progress from this screen. Note that progress save codes are unique for each user! Alternatively you can make a note of the level passwords. All levels CAN be completed without losing a life. Good luck! (Please note if you Restart a level your score for the game is reset. This is done deliberately) If you have any questions please let me know and I'll try and answer them. I'm really proud of this project. I hope you like it :) NOTES & CREDITS: Post your level designs here:- https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/topic/542188/ The original version of Repton 3 was developed by Matthew Atkinson for the BBC Micro and Acorn Electron, and released by Superior Software in 1986. This game includes the original 24 levels from the BBC Micro version of Repton 3 ("Prelude", "Toccata" and "Finale") and also the additional 16 levels created for the official PC version ("Overture" and "Encore") The "Welcome" scenario I designed to be a gentle introduction to the world of Repton. The "Tutorial" and "Hard" scenarios were designed by "Weeble" for a game called "Linton", which is a clone of Repton 3 for the Pico-8 platform. The "Easy" and "Main" scenarios are slightly bigger maps, and were designed by Harry Wood for his PC version of the game. The original music was composed especially for the game by Paul Hughes and Peter Clarke. Swipe engine by @noyco Options slider by @RokCoder The Intellectual Property rights for Repton are owned by Superior Interactive. All sprites, graphics, sounds and music taken from the existing Repton games for the BBC Micro or the PC. The thumbnail is the original Repton 3 loading screen. The small font was a pixel font used in the original game. The large font is called Baby Teeth. #games #mobile #retro #puzzle #maze #Repton #description(The classic BBC Micro game of Repton 3 recreated in Scratch.
