Sorry, I haven't posted and CoS or Fated content in a while- I have been thinking about something a lot. Is it morally right for me to be profiting off of somebody else's creative property? Do I want to be known for that? In my case, this is referencing a warrior cats series, so I am going to be specifically talking about that. However, this also applies to any fan-series you may be doing or participating in. I am obviously not making any money off of this- however I am still claiming intellectual property and claiming it as my own. Call of Spirits and Fated obviously has a lot of my own ideas and creativity but the stories fundamentally need to take place in a warrior cats setting, or a blatant copy of such a world. I know, I have waited far too long to rant about this. I have already collected voice actors and actresses for CoS, and a lot of supporters for Fated. I have already spent too long trying to animate and prepare everything, however I can't move forward with the projects. I originally started CoS under the name "Moss" whereas Fated is also a rebooted old project of mine. I ended up dropping them out of lack of motivation- and I knew I would not do that this time. Yet, here I am: on the brink of dropping it altogether. Not for lack of motivation, but a moral dilemma; This is somebody else's ideas and property garbled in my own voice. I would not face repercussions if I were to continue with either of the projects (at least, extremely unlikely). I know that. Even if you're not punished for it, there are still some things that you simply shouldn't do. I think this is possibly one of those topics. I have never seen this topic really talked about, which is really weird to me, is there something I am missing? Is there something else here? If there is I would love to know, seriously. I also realize that there is a lot of warrior cats related content, and it's difficult for me to judge the realms of what falls under stealing creative property, and what is adding to it- and I'm not here to draw that line for you as you probably will have your own opinions and I will not debate over it. If you would like to know where I stand, you can ask. I feel bad making this. Due to the realm of my art and what I draw, I have dived headfirst into an amazing online community of other creative people who make fan-series, and I feel like I am not only shutting myself down, I'm shutting everybody else down as well. I want everyone here reading this to continue to do what they love (I do not wish anyone here be stuck without a passion in the world, I just hope you can migrate your passions into your own property), but I also want to encourage making your own stories and worlds. To conclude, I don't know if I'm describing this topic in the best way, I cannot know if I am coming across well here, so please, if you're confused or would like to argue a point, or simply want to discuss the topic in general leave a comment. Thanks for reading.
