really lazy meme :( the backstory is so frickin' long, have some extra time to read it Enter in my DTA: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/564833254/ Name: Crydid Gender: Male Backstory: Crydid is a robot designed to be a companion for humans. Crydid was the first one produced, but something short-circuited and he destroyed the factory. Production was canceled. Crydid escaped and lived in the mountains nearby. He knew only death, destruction, and sorrow. He made his way into the city and smashed some goods at a nearby shop. The next morning, the crime was reported and police cars parked next to the store. Crydid watched the going-ons from a rooftop with confusion. Crydid's brain short-circuited again, and he lept from the rooftop in his madness and snarled at the people gathered round the shop. His claws came out, and the people jumped away from him. The police reached into the back of the van and pulled out a small net. Crydid jumped to one officer's leg and swiped at it. Blood stained his claws. The other officer tossed the net. His aim was true, and Crydid became entangled. After a while, Crydid woke up in the pound. He did not remember anything at all. He paced his cell as he desperately tried to remember why he was here to no avail. Crydid slapped himself in the face, hitting the star in the middle of his forehead. Suddenly, his mind overflowed with knowledge about how to care for people, give advice, what to say, how to be polite, and millions more ways to be a friend. The tsunami of information knocked Crydid out again. When he awoke, he remembered his newfound knowledge, but nothing else. He realized he had one purpose, and one purpose alone. To be a friend. But some dark part of him longed to be alone in his home in the mountains, with no one and nothing. Crydid looked outside the bars of his cell. A basset hound was in the cell across from him. Suddenly, a man walked in. He looked at the other animals, then at the hound, and said, "This is the one!" Soon, another man came and unlocked the hound's door. The dog bounded to his new owner, wagging his tail. Crydid realized that was the only way to get out. He put on his cutest, saddest face his computer would allow, and sat next to the bars of his cage. Soon a lady walked in. She looked at all the other animals, and every time she shook her head and clicked her tongue. She came to Crydid's cage. She studied him for a second. After a couple seconds that seemed like an hour, she sighed and moved on. Crydid's heart broke. Seventeen more people came in, and they all discarded Crydid. Finally, a small child and her mother entered the room. The child exclaimed; "I wanna kitty!" The mom put on a false smile and said; "Yes, dear, you've said that already." She looked like she had only agreed to get a cat because otherwise the tiny girl would never stop ranting about it. Crydid didn't try to get adopted. He just laid in his cage, watching the child shun every cat she saw. Suddenly, she stopped at Crydid's cage. "ROBOT KIDDY! Beep bop! Beep bop! Mama, can we get 'im?" The mom looked at Crydid and said flatly; "Yes, whatever, honey." Crydid's heart melded back together. He was going to go home. But in the mountains, not with this horrible child. As soon as the man opened the cage, Crydid planned to run from the child and away, back to his home in the mountains. The man unlocked the door. Crydid bolted out of his cell- and into a pet carrier. The man chuckled. "They try that all the time." Crydid sulked as the carrier bounced along, angry that his scheme had been so easily thwarted. After a very bumpy car drive to a small apartment, the door opened and Crydid jumped out. He studied the room. Suddenly, the girl enveloped him in a giant bear hug, screaming "KIDDY!!!!!!" Crydid knew it would be a while before he could escape. Months passed. Crydid created an almost foolproof plan to escape. Eventually, a year passed, and everything was in position for Crydid to escape. Crydid burst for the open door. He had perfectly timed it so that the girl, now 6, was in her bedroom, and the mom had left the house with the door accidently open. Crydid raced down the stairs of the apartment. Just as he was about to set foot on the road home, something stopped him. Crydid pushed his mind to move, but his body was frozen. Suddenly, he realized something. He had grown endearing of the child. Her rib-crushing hugs, her terrible singing, and the times when she shoved him onto her bed whether he liked it or not. Crydid needed to stay. The child needed him to stay. He had found his purpose. His robotic heart, which had broken, came together, and turned black, melted. Crydid turned back toward the apartment. Already the child was shouting; "KIDDDDYY? WHERE ARE YOUUU!?!" She really loves me, Crydid thought. Crydid bounded up the steps to the room. The child made a happy shriek, and ran to Crydid and hugged him. Crydid had found his home. His family. Everything. (Continued in N&C)

Description

(Continued backstory) Do not read if you haven't read the first part yet. Crydid learned to speak to the child soon after. The child grew up, and Crydid's mind grew too, though his body did not age, as he was a robot. Crydid saved her from many depressions with his kind words and clever wit. He helped her when she was bullied or mistreated, or when she needed help on her homework. After many years, the child became and adult. Crydid stayed with her. After many, many years, the child was elderly. Crydid stayed with her. He knew more about her than she knew about herself. Crydid loved her more than anything else in the world. Then she died. Crydid's heart broke again. Nothing could mend it. So, in a robotic sense, he died as well. He was buried with his owner because it seemed right. It was.
