quite long sorry takes place between ch 17 and 18 battle training ended, it was noon and fox was travelling back to camp... alone. well, not really, crystal and shadow were right next to him shadow was saying something about battle training and crystal was listening excitedly fox wasn't in this conversation and wasn't sure he wanted to be it would be embarassing to interupt and crystal could think lesser of his behavior fox got his name from his appearance which resembles a fox he doesn't particularly like his name, he wishes it could be something cooler, more original, like shadow's he wishes he could be more like shadow, more confident, more funny, more outspoken, more like of the kind of wolf that crystal would like as her partner yes, fox could tell if he didn't do anything crystal and his half brother would be closer by the day and he'd lose crystal AND shadow forever that wish causes jealousy fox always says to himself how immature and dumb shadow always acts and how it's unfair that he's the one who gets all of crystal's attention and unfair that all of the pups in camp want to play with him and unfair that he gets away with pulling pranks and teasing fox and whenever fox tries to talk to crystal he's too nervous to say anything /I think crystal knows that because she always acts all awkwardly patient/ he thought but he can't come to admit that he's jealous of shadow and looks up to him with a spark of annoyance fox felt shadow's paw on his head "now, this guy is real good at the limp fall move" shadow explained to crystal looking at fox with the smug face he hated "cool!" crystal said looking directly at fox, smiling. blushing hard, fox shoved shadow's paw away and ran into the woods he didn't even look back to see shadow's hurt expression and crystal's worried expression he suddenly ran into something soft and fell backwards "oof! what-" he began "I have a message for you, fox" said a voice coming from two eerie glowing yellow eyes in the shadows terror struck in fox's mind "w-what...?" he stammered /I'm dead I'm dead I'm so dead/ he thought "it's from foxglove, she knows what you desire and she can help you get rid of shadow" fox was speechless for a moment and then thought "uh... okay? can I meet her?" he decided, slightly less terrified "in your dreams tonight she will visit you" said the figure fox nodded agressively he decided it was better not to go back with crystal and shadow. fox walked into misty's den unsure whether foxglove was real or not because having another wolf visit your dreams seemed quite impossible but then again fox felt that misty could somehow see the future so maybe she'd be able to help his problem "misty... I need some help...?"
