Instructions

In the case of THIS version of the project, please don't repost unless you also agree with my remarks below. I can read this, but have the following problems with the message of the text: 1. Apparently the study about the order of letters inside a word wasn't conducted until after the claim had become widespread, to see if it was actually true, and I don't recall it being favourable towards this claim. 2. It took me much longer to read this misspelled version than it would if every word were spelled correctly. This goes against the bit where it says you should be able to read it 'without a problem' because I can't, and I suspect lots of the people who also remixed this couldn't either. 3. If the claim were true, there would be no way to differentiate between words like 'salt' and 'slat' in certain contexts, for example, and accumulation of errors like this could change the meaning of the text. In some scenarios you may accidentally end up with a rude word or phrase, which wouldn't be good, especially on a website like Scratch which has kids using it. 4. Any words less than 4 letters long HAVE to be spelled in the right order for this to work, and they are what make it easier to navigate the text. 5. By the way, with a lot of the words in this text, the first and last letter aren't even in the right place, although it says they should be in order for people to read them properly. 6. And if 45% of people can't read text like this, it's a bit selfish to assume your readers are in the 55% that can, ignoring everyone who can't, and write like that. 7. I find myself wondering where the '55%' figure came from, but let's go with it for now. 8. Not every human mind necessarily works in the same way, so just because some people find the order of letters doesn't matter, doesn't mean everyone is like that. Also, this text presupposes that the reader is a human. So yes, it is possible to read it. But the bit at the end about spelling being not important is wrong. This isn't to say my own spelling is perfect, because it probably isn't. It is to say that I don't consider it a vain enterprise to learn to spell properly. I have in fact read something by Adam Spencer about this claim, which is where I got this information from. For those in the 45% who can't read the text, it runs: If you can read this, you have a strange mind too. I couldn't [original word didn't have an apostrophe anywhere! How monstrously sloppy!] believe that I could actually understand what I was reading. The phenomenal power of the human mind, according to research at [can't tell what this is, some university probably], it doesn't matter in what order the letters in a word are [better wording would be 'the order of letters inside a word don't matter'], [splice comma alert!] the only important thing is that the first and last letter be [should be 'are'] in the right place. The rest can be a total mess and you can still read it without a problem. This is because the human mind does not read every letter by itself, but the word as a whole. Amazing right? Yes [should be a comma here] and I always thought spelling was important! If you can read this SHARE IT Can you read this? Only 55 people out of 100 can.
