一 click/space/arrows to go through the slides 一 click to zoom in (code by colorsnatch) my art process featuring one of my newer ocs!! this was kind of tricky to do because i actually...... do not use my brain when doing art...❤️ hopefully this helps in some way, though! lmk if you have any questions - i can try to answer them ^-^ 一 [1] Full Piece [2] Close-up [3] References and Inspo - this is a very important step in my process! I collect a variety of refs before I start sketching so that I can get an idea of what I like/what I want to include. The ones circled in pink are the ones I ended up using the most! [4] Sketches - I play around with the pose a little - I know I want the character to look to the left, but I still have to figure out what the rest of the body is doing LOL. [5] Initial Sketch! Replaced the glass with a ribbon (ty @verdeiia !!) [6] Testing Colors - messed around with the base colors to kinda just see how they work together. [7] Lineart (kinda) - it's more like a cleaner sketch though. I tilted the sketch slightly, set it to a lower opacity, and made more defined lines, separated by section. [8] Base Colors - I put down the base colors more neatly. Also added a little value variation in the hair so it's easier for me to color pick later on when I add detail. [9] What my layers look like with the base colors - I put the skin color on the bottom and clip the hair, clothes, and other items to the skin layer. [10] Slight shading + eye makeup(??) [11] Colored in the eye [12] Shading! - I typically use a multiply layer at 70-80% opacity on a clipping mask layer above the base colors. [13] Just what it looks like if I set the blending mode to "normal" instead of "multiply". [14] Added some hints of blue as well as the base color for the ribbon. [15] Hair details - my favorite part! - I combine all the layers (except for the ribbon) and start painting in the hair. I don't really know how to explain this though T___T I just oonga boonga pretty hair Yes. [16] Shaded the ribbon. [17] Added the initial idea for more strings/ribbons(?) around his wrists. [18] Background - Added some ribbons to continue the ribbon theme going on and changed the angle of the ones on his wrist slightly. [19] Highlights - Small highlights on the hair, clothes, and face because I Can. [20] More Background - more dramatic lighting and blurred people in the back haha.
