NONE This isn't a game, it's an SDS submission! I made the image on my own with Photoshop; it's not a stock image. Extra statistical information: One day: 46 Earth days ACTUAL surface gravity (mistake in the project): 14.12 m/s^2 System: Guilia (Pollux System) Seasons: 2 (Extreme winter period, heavy monsoon period). Each season lasts for about 2.75 Earth years, although it's winter period can sometimes be considerably longer. Coldest surface temperature recorded: -68 Celsius Hottest surface temperature recorded: 10 Celsius Distance from Earth: 33.7 light years Constellation: Gemini Host star: Pollux Air quality: Fairly dense and misty; gets humid during it's monsoon period and extremely dry during it's winter period.

Description

I was looking at the new SDS on the front page and saw it was a "Create your own Planet!" entry, so I decided, "why not?" PLANETARY INFO (Updated): Planet Icarus: a cold, desolate world with ancient cities strewn across it's surface from it's past inhabitants, although any physical signs of previous life is completely nonexistent even down to the molecular level. Some scientists believe the planet's inhabitants fled Icarus during a world-wide drought or apocalyptic event. Named after the son of the master craftsman Daedalus from Greek mythology, the planet has been named Icarus due to it's unstable, sporadic weather conditions and orbital pattern. The planet circles it's host star Pollux about every 5 and a half Earth years but in a large oval pattern, causing the planet to be extremely cold for a prolonged amount of time and when it is closer starts to rain violently. Being more than twice the size of Earth, it has a fairly dense atmosphere although most of it is filled with life sustaining gases such as Nitrogen and Hydrogen. Trace amounts of Oxygen have been discovered, although nowhere near the amount that would allow humans to breathe safely or efficiently on it's surface. The weather temperatures of Icarus have seemed to stay at an average of -18 celsius all year round. However, scientists have discovered that Icarus is slowly spiraling away from it's host star due to it's irregular orbital nature, meaning the planet could have previously been much closer to it's sun in the past and allowed it's former inhabitants to live in comfortable weather conditions. Conditions on the surface seem to mostly consist of dust storms and blizzards during it's winter season. Liquid water exists in the bottoms of some of it's canyons, which would probably mean the former existence of rivers running through them when the planet was warmer in the past, as believed by scientists. During the planet's monsoon season, cold heavy rain falls from the sky and fills up the empty riverbeds, creating waterfalls and running streams of water all across the surface. Although it rains for almost a straight 2 and a half Earth years, it's former oceans don't usually fill up unless it's a particularly wet and stormy season. Icarus has four moons; Bell, Ifrika, Eno, and Repin. None of them seem to harbor enough gravity for an atmosphere to have formed, thus making them cold, dry wastelands. Brief recordings of seismic activity has however been found on Eno, leading scientists to believe it may harbor a very weak magnetic field. The planet is part of the Guilia system, which orbits around Pollux. The system is made up of 4 planets; Asteria, Icarus, Demeter, and Hecate. Icarus is the second planet in the system, being around 150,000,000 miles away from Asteria and almost 300,000,000 miles away from Demeter. Asteria is the only planet part of this system that is known to harbor life, with it's dominant predatory species having the intelligence level of a canine.
