The 'Collar' unlocks upon the push of the button but it only works when the button is green (when it knows that oxygen is outside and therefore it is clear to take the thing off). Then, it unlocks at the back and then falls forward. After it detaches, the seal at the top of the 'atmosphere' unlocks and the front of the sphere falls off.
