Materials: Color pencils, Eraser, Colorless blender (Super helpful, but not required), Paper (preferably a mixed media or a color pencil one), Reference (Super helpful, not required.). Note: I forgot to include a picture of my sketch, but basically just lightly sketch out your cherry, then erase it so you can just barely see it. Step 1. Basic shadows + light Basically, I picked out the darkest part of the reference, and used a dark red color to lightly shade those parts. I also used a white color pencil and outlines the highlights of the cherry. Step 2. Refine Using the same red pencil, I refined the shadows just by using more pressure. Step 3. More shadows I used a lighter red pencil to lightly shade in some more shadows. I also used a dark purple-ish color to add some undertones! Step 4. Base Color This time, I used a dark red pencil to very lightly go over the whole cherry, even the highlights. Make sure this is VERY light. Step 5. More base colors I used a light pinkish red pencil to fill in some of the empty spots near the shadows. Step 6. More colors Using a darker red pencil, I just gently colored in more parts of the cherry, near the pinkish-red colors. Step 7. Blend I took my colorless blender pencil, and started blending the top of the cherry. If you don’t have a colorless blender, feel free to use a different blending material (search it up for different blending ideas). A tip: Use smooth curved motions for your blender, to give the cherry a round shape. Step 8. Blend the rest I did the same thing for the rest of the cherry, making sure I wasn't over blending or leaving any place without color. Step 9. Refine I used a black pencil and darkened the darkest shadows (lol), and a dark red-purple one for the semi-darkest ones. Step 10. Small details I just went over the whole cherry, finding the small details I wanted to fix, filling in some color, refining more shadows, adding more contrast, etc. Its not very noticeable xD. Step 11. Highlights I colored in the highlights with a white color pencil. Don't apply too much pressure, but make sure that there is enough white pigment to be visible. Step 12. Blend I used my colorless blender (again), to blend out the edges of my highlights. This really helped the highlights seem natural, and smooth. Step 13. Stem I just used a medium green pencil to sketch out my stem. Step 14. Lighting + Shadows + Stem thing With different hues of yellow and green, I shaded the stem so it looks more realistic. I also sketched out that thing at the end of the stem xD. Step 15. Refine I just layered on more colors to the twig thingy, and blended it with the green part. Step 16. Finishing touches This is optional, but I added VERY small details, like some more shading, and layering to the cherry <3. I also added a small shadow at the bottom. Step 17. Done! This is the finished product in better lighting! (Lol) This whole art piece took about 1-1.5 hours? I apologize for the quality, scratch is so annoying sometimes- Reference: https://stockfresh.com/image/476610/cherries Sry for the shadow on most of the pictures, that’s my phone taking the picture xD.
Edit 1: PLEASE DONT FOLLOW ME, FOLLOW @STELLAMARIS-, @IZIBEE, @PICKLES240, @LILY_4694 INSTEAD Edit: getting curated tmrw???! Tysm for all the support! Hi! So recently I got the 72 pack of Prismacolors, and I already love them so much :0. I've never drawn anything with color pencils b4 this (except for school projects), so I am quite proud of this! I am self-taught, and I know nothing about color theory, lighting, techniques, shadows, etc, except for the things I taught myself. If I get anything wrong, please let me know! I would love tips! <333 This is my 3rd ever color pencil drawing, and I made this one with no tutorial, but had a digital reference photo :D. I decided to make a little process so you guys could see how I drew it! Feel free to remix and try drawing a cherry yourself <3. ALSO, THE PRISMACOLOR COLORLESS BLENDER IS SO USEFUL, I RECOMMEND GETTING IT, IT'S NOT THAT PRICEY EITHER I THINK ITS 5 DOLLARS FOR A 2 PACK? You can find them on amazon or your local craft store :> ALSO, don't feel discouraged if you don't have prismacolors! The materials aren't what defines you. Prismacolors aren't exactly cheap, and I had to save up to get them, but if you recommend getting them! Lol im trying to make my thumbnails interesting but failing.
