Instructions

Click claves (sticks) for just the clave beat. Click drums for drums and clave together. Click piano for piano, drums, and clave. Cick flag for full salsa. I wrote this salsa music many years ago, after cracking the code of what makes Salsa sound Salsa-ee. The key is the clave, the beat you hear when clicking on the sticks. I love the interesting piano rhythm against the clave.

Description

I coded in the percussion that plays when you click on the clave sticks. Gaps (rests) between clave strikes are 1.5, 1.5, 2, 1, and 2. That's how you code the rhythm. The drum hits every 2 beats. That regular drumming against the clave is the most distinctive salsa sound. It could also be 1 beat. So long as it is steady. But then the piano has an interesting rhythm (see code). I synchronized the clave sound with the clave sticks striking. Similarly, with the drums. The full salso music was by a much younger me (Chris Keane) using Sibelius software. I used piano, violins, trumpets, drums, and "voice." I figure I can now publish my old music in Scratch. I wrote lyrics but I never got around to singing them since I would need a good female vocal too. So I added synthesized vocals.
