ℹ️ There is now a much-improved Pixel Pattern Maker 2: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/562599749/ Design a pattern in the box, and then click "Render". Click the green flag to show a random example pattern from the pattern library (containing 100+ patterns).
When I was a kid, my family had a Macintosh (not sure if it was 128K or 512K), which had a tiny screen with black-and-white graphics. But it also had an operating system with a revolutionary graphic user interface - the desktop, which quickly became the standard graphic user interface for computers. One of the features it had was the ability to design your own backdrop pattern. I remember having fun with that, which is why I decided to make this project. Inspirations for the example patterns include the original Macintosh patterns (probably - I can't remember exactly), Japanese traditional patterns, M.C. Escher, 1-bit game graphics, various wallpapers, and @njdavison's awesome 8-bit Bitmap Editor: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/482442499
