WARNING SPOILERS FOR THE NEW PROPHECY, POWER OF THREE, AND THE BROKEN CODE Ashfur. I hate him. I hate his intentions. Everything. Let me explain why. First off, he used portray as a nice cat. Maybe he once loved Squirrelflight. Well, it seemed that way. Some may argue that he turned out the way he did due to the loss of his mother. All cats in Warriors from the first ark lost their mothers, too. He is no different. Once he gained a relationship with Squirrelflight though, that's when we started to see the change. He seemed sweet at some times, but that was just to cover up his manipulative motives. Whenever Squilf fought with Bramble, Ashfur took this opportunity to increase this "relationship" of his. When Squirrelflight chose Brambleclaw over Ashfur, he snapped. You may blame it on Squirrelflight, saying that she "used Ashfur to make Bramble jealous." That's not true. It's proved in the books that she genuinely liked him, but not as much as Brambleclaw. She was faced with a decision between two potential mates, and she chose one that was less controlling, and whom she loved more. (pretty sure it's whom instead of who in that sense, right?) Ashfur took this way to far. If he really loved her, then he would have accepted her choice. Love is based on not just your own feelings for another, but also the feelings of those who you care about. Ashfur couldn't seem to get this. His "love" turned into obsession. He attempted to kill her father and adopted kits for StarClan's sake! That isn't love! Yes, Brambleclaw/star and Squirrelflight had their arguments, but no relationship is perfect! Everyone fights! If you put two stubborn cats together, it's bound to happen! The fact that they can overcome those bumps makes it more believable. They don't ignore their fights. They talk it out. It may take a while, but it happens. Ashfur doesn't care about what Squirrelflight feels. When Ashfur posses Bramblestar, pretending to be Squirrelfight's mate, you can see how abusive and manipulative he is. HE (ashfur in bramble's body) THREW HER OFF A ROCK!! Whenever Ashfur and Squilf fought, Ashfur would just shut her ideas out and abuse her. If Ashfur became Squirrelflight's real mate, then that would have happened plenty of times. He never "loved" too much. He just took an obsession way to far. Thrushpelt, when Bluefur chose another tom over him, didn't threaten to kill her kits or father or anything. He actually helped her cover up her secret, taking it to his grave. He accepted her decision, and offered to help her. If Ashfur had done that, then I wouldn't want to yeet him into the lake. ALSO ASHFUR MESSED WITH JAYFEATHER, SHADOWSIGHT, AND FIRESTAR!!!!! THOSE ARE THREE OF MY FAVORITE CATS AHHHHHHH!!! okay sorry got a bit too worked up there. This is my opinion. You have your own, and that's fine, but this is what I believe. Hopefully in book six of the broken code Ashfur would stop being such a jerk. Thank you Also Stormfur isn't an option. If his feelings had gone farther, and if Squilf had liked him back, then maybe they would be a good pair. But it didn't. So they aren't. And that's that.
