Your character's life is/was not hard/sad because of a made-up backstory. "well in my cat's /backstory/ their parents died and then so did their siblings and all of their friends and their mate cheated on them and their best friend-" No. Please. When making roleplay characters, don't give them a backstory and say that they've had the "worst life ever". Because there are characters who have gone through worse in-RP. And when you do that, it's like spitting in the RPers of those characters' faces. So I didn't have to have my character for a year and cry as my character's life crumbled before them? I didn't have to stick with my character, roleplay them out through every heartbreak, every sad moment, every traumatizing occurrence? Because that's what you're saying when you do that. It is so *irritating*. So please- just don't. If your character had a rough life, everything that made it rough happened in-RP. Nothing in your character's backstory makes their life hard or sad. Sorry.
