click every summer our planet passes through a trail of debris left by comet swift-tuttle. these debris burn up upon entering our atmosphere, leaving brilliant streaks of light in their wake. this is called the perseid (named after the constellation perseus) meteor shower, and it peaks just before the middle of august every year. I went outside very early this morning and saw at least fifteen perseids in just over an hour. some of them were more spectacular than others, but there were all amazing, and definitely worth waiting for. this year is an especially good year for viewing perseids because the moon isn’t visible by the time it’s dark enough to see any meteors. I got a lot of this information from this article and I recommend checking it out if you’re interested in learning more: https://earthsky.org/astronomy-essentials/everything-you-need-to-know-perseid-meteor-shower/ this project could be waaaayy simpler if it wasn’t 100% pen. or if I cleaned up the code a bit… but it was fun to make, and I hope you enjoy it! @The_Surrealist
