IT'S LORE TIME B) I've redone Nebulous's backstory, and this time it is even worse for him >:) So basically, when he is 13, he's walkin' around, in the Shadow Kingdom, when he finds this kid on the streets. As we all know (you probably don't because why would you pay attention to some random british kid on the internet), Nebulous does not like child cruelty. So he invites the kid to go live in the royal palace with him, because kids are strangely optimistic about things. Unfortunately, the kid's a vampire, that's why he's on the streets. Y'all know the consensus on vampires in Shadow-Cat society. So, when the king finds out, he kills the kid because...bigotry. Nebulous, without really thinking, necromances for the first time, bringing the kid back to life. Necromancers are also stigmatised in this old version of Shadow-Cat society, so Nebulous is forced to hide the black goo that started gushing out of his eyes as his powers awaken. His father starts treating him differently, and Nebulous is very sad :( the kid is also there, and Nebulous protects him from other people. Fast forward to when he's done the old 'transfer enough necromancy energy into one person so they can ressurect you when you use up all your necromancy coupons (I promise those aren't what they're called)'. This happens when he's 18, because Nebulous is a curious boy. Father senses an exploitable opportunity and sends Nebulous to the army to necromance soldiers. This is a draining experience for Nebulous, and he spends like 7 years with the army. When he comes back, he comes across this short-eared Shadow-Cat sneaking around. They become friends, then fall in love. Nebulous knows Father wouldn't approve because of his boyfriend being a short-ear...and...a guy...woah, rare case of homophobia in the canon? :( So, they keep it a secret, only telling the aforementioned kid (who is an adult now) and the current Lorekeeper, with whom he is training with to become a new Lorekeeper. The Lorekeeper dies, and Nebulous is sad. But now he is Lorekeeper, which is kind of stressful. Fast forward in time, and Nebulous, the boyfriend and the vampire man try to run away from Epistimio, but are caught. Father gets some people to beat the boyfriend up and burn him to death so Nebulous can't necromance him. Nebulous is so overcome with rage, that he ends up necromancing a triceratops who gores Father to death. Nebulous is now king, I guess. His citizens hate him for killing the former king. Nebulous is sad. He also has to deal with the stress of being a King and a Lorekeeper. And this is where, the other character in this meme comes in. Introducing Moon, the cunning leader of a Shadow-Cat tribe rivalling the Shadow Kingdom. Hearing about the unstable political situation in the Shadow Kingdom, she decided this was the perfect opportunity to gain power, and she attacks the Shadow Kingdom. Nebulous, knowing that he would not have the support of the army to retaliate conventionally, challenged Moon to a duel to decide who would get the crown. Before the event, vampire guy comes to Moon to beg that she spare Nebulous's life, and Moon agreed to it. When the duel came, Moon absolutely crushed Nebulous, but spared his life. She became Queen, and took Nebulous prisoner. There's some more to this story, but it's not really that relevant, but if you want to know more, feel free to ask me :) I wrote their pronouns into the meme because the scene seemed rather empty, and I wasn't sure what else to put. But hey!
