Once you pick one, one of the incorrect rocks will be shown to you, it will never be the one you first picked, and the correct one is determined beforehand. You can switch which rock you're checking for gold after an incorrect one is revealed, when you get it right, you gain 1 CORRECT score, when you get it wrong, you gain one WRONG score.
Based on the "Monty Hall problem" where when you switch your answer after being revealed an incorrect one, you have double the chance of your answer being correct! When you first look at all 3 answers, there's an equal 1/3 chance for all of them, but when an incorrect answer is revealed, the 1/3 chance of that choice is transferred to the other choice that you did NOT first select, meaning that the first selection has a 1/3 chance of being correct, while the other one has a 2/3 chance of being correct!
