First, an Among Us scam, now these things!? If you go to your home page on Youtube, you'll see these videos recommended! But, what upsets me is that they're overly repetitive and made by the same kind of people, underrated users (mostly young kids) who you've never heard of! The worst part is that they get so much attention just by rating alarm noises, intended to save people's lives around the world, not something like actual music or movies! Also, most of these videos are just slides (usually black), showing a person character/icon's reactions, and text that shows the country where the sound is from and their rating out of 10! That's so lazy! But, how are they rating them!? By scariness!? By how groovy it sounds!? It's so unclear! So this got me thinking, "What started this trend? Why did these users decide to do this?"How do these users get so many views?" That's what I'm going to answer right now! First question is, "What started this trend?" Easily, this was all started when some users posted videos showing EAS alarms they found on the internet that were from TV at one point (without rating them). So, why are people rating them now? I remember when early EAS alarm videos were around the time scary logos were popular, and I know people were rating those logos too. GoAnimate videos, like those report card ones (I'll make another project talking about them!), were also taking a storm at that time, especially the ones that recreated the scary logos. So, what is my theory? I firmly believe that when users, some from GoAnimate, were checking/rating the logos, they saw EAS alarms and decided to rate those. It was left barely unnoticed, until recently, some kid saw someone else, from that time, rank EAS alarms like the scary logos, and decided to do the same. Whether they had a lot of friends or not, other kids picked up on this, and now, here we are! Now, this isn't a topic I would think off from the top of my head, as these people had to see someone else doing EAS alarm ratings before doing it themselves. So, the next question is "Why did these users decide to do this?" There are a few theories I have for this. First, is that they want to get popular. Simple enough, like clickbaiters to Fortnite, they notice someone getting tons of views from doing something simple and want to copy it. Secondly, is that they just want to share their opinion. Maybe they don't focus on getting views, but instead, want to give their opinion about these EAS alarms to share with others. Thirdly, is this: "My friends are doing it." Just like any social media, if anything gets popular, it spreads all over the world. And, if your friends do it, you're inclined to do it too. A lot of these users have friends on sites like Roblox and stuff, so they would see this easily from the people who they chat or play with. So, now we know why people picked up on this, we need to figure out our final question, "How do these users get so many views?" Search "rating EAS alarms," and look at the search suggestions! First, are rating EAS alarms 3, 5, 6- There are parts!? Having different parts is an old technique scary logo users used to use, where they make different parts that disguise as a continuation of their previous videos, but are actually a way to make people click on more of their videos! Secondly, are "countries from around the world." Now, this may seem just like a suggestion that is only particular to a video's title, but global/around the world-related videos get lots of attention, and even I got tricked one time! There was once a Youtuber who made a "guess the language" video that I wanted to try out, to see how well I am at world culture! (I got like 25% of them correct.) However, I didn't notice that each video reached 10 minutes, and if you're not a clickbait hater like me, you would know that's the mininum length of time per video that would likely get you ad revenue! I realized that no matter how many points I got or how many rounds/languages the Youtuber puts, they still tricked me into watching their videos, because learning about the diverse world is a major topic. Thirdly, is Tiktok and Gacha Life. There are TikTokers that do the same thing!? Apparently, it has reached these popular platforms, also full of gullible young people. Not much else to say except that this trend is now expanding to other sites besides Youtube. Now we've answered all of our three questions. Let me know what you guys think by typing in the comments section below! Have you made your own EAS alarm project/video? Let me know why you made it! Don't worry! I'm open to your opinions, even if they counter mine! But, this is to let you know to not click on these specific videos, be safe, and have fun online! Thank you for reading this project!
Creator- @Legendaro Note: I want to cover up the name of these users so they won't targeted, as that I'm only focusing on the videos relating to EAS alarms, not them specifically. Also, their names aren't that long. It's just so you won't see how long their names are (I don't know why I did this, especially if you can just find them via video title, but still).
