ok, first of all, i just want to make it clear that i am NOT saying i'm quitting scratch! the parts of the community that aren't toxic still exist, i still have friends here (some of which i cant talk to any other way), i still absolutely love coding here and making projects and looking at other people's projects. just know that i might be a little quieter than normal (plus i have other things going on as well) what i wanted to say is i wanna address some stuff first of all, ST, really???? thread limit on studios???? i know for a fact i'm not the only person who's upset about this. most of my friends are too. the new format looks weird (especially on mobile (._ . )), but i can forgive that i guess? i could get used to that. the thread limit though- i just don't see the point. a LOT of people use scratch for roleplaying, and you can't do ANY roleplays in just 25 replies. Heck, even most regular conversations are longer than that! I don't really get how that improves loading times (you added it so instead of loading up all the comments, it just loads up that thread, and not even all of it you still have to click see more (like on project comments), so that doesn't make sense. and if you mean so that you don't have big long threads to load- still hhhhh). it also says thats to keep conversations open, which also doesn't make sense to me?? if somebody wanted to join a conversation that was longer, they would probably want to read the entire thing. For another point on that, it makes conversations confusing. Say one person starts a conversation topic, but it has to get moved to another thread. Overall its just annoying (thank you for listening to me rant =v=) the second thing i wanted to say is that one of my friends got banned on their main account a while back (like early june), and they showed me the screenshot and we agree that it doesn't say what she did wrong. all it did was show a list of "reasons" that were just messages like "You can now post comments again!" plus one of a project getting taken down for being "too scary" (when she looked at that ban message again recently i'm pretty sure she said that the project message was removed from the list) So we're not even sure what she did wrong on that account and why it would result in a ban On top of that, an alt she made for talking got banned, and some roleplay alts as well for "working around a ban" even though both rp accounts were made before she got banned on any account and explicitly said she quit not only that, but that leaves me (and i'm pretty sure other people as well) being afraid to post projects that might be even mildly edgy, or write even normal words that wouldn't be considered bad just out of fear of being muted
basically overall what i'm saying here is: what the actual heck ST?? The studio update isn't really helping anything, its not an improvement or upgrade, and if anything its a downgrade And when you're muting someone (or even banning them!), I feel like it would be super useful to give a more- i don't know, explicit reason? As of right now when you get muted, it literally just tells you you can't say stuff, and then says to follow community guidelines. I know that if you click the thing at the bottom of the screen it goes a bit more into detail, but still. /Maybe/ saying exactly what part of the comment was wrong and why is a bit difficult, but you could at least refine the program a little bit to be able to figure out WHY a comment is bad! I mean, something had to get flagged in it, there had to be some part of it that was picked up on, so why not just categorize those? It'd actually be super useful if you did that because if you're trying to keep bad stuff off the site and stop the problem, one way to do it is to tell people what the problem is in the first place so they can avoid doing it again. That's ESPECIALLY good for the people who typed something and didn't realize it broke a guideline and are just looking at the notification and comment like "what did i do wrong?!" i'm sorta getting sick of these problems and this is just the tip of the iceberg :/
