- - - Here is my feedback about the new studio update, i hope you enjoy this project. Feel free to express your own feedback in the comments!! ⇩⇩ - - - Table of Contents: 1. Good Things 2. Things I want to Know 3. Things I Don't Like 4. Things the ST could add/change 5. Notes and Closing Thoughts - - - 1. Good Things. A lot of people are making these projects /just/ to complain, but in my opinion, it's not all bad. I really like the layout, and the looks of it. It matches the rest of the scratch website more. I also like that the follow button is easier to see, so that scratchers won't forget to follow the studio if they want to access it more easily in the future since it shows up in their "Studios I'm Following" bar. I also like that Projects, Comments, Curators, and Activity are buttons and not tabs, it just makes the design flow easier. It's also cool that it shows the Studio Creator in "Curators," it helps with crediting and that kind of thing. Another thing I like that I want to bring up is the fact that when you add projects to your studios, it gives you the option to add projects you favorited, projects you recently viewed, and like the old studio format, projects you've created. - - - 2. Things I want to Know Ok, so what are the dimensions of the new thumbnail thing? I just made a thumbnail for a studio the other day, and it looked fine on the old layout because I had the right dimensions, but in the new layout it looks all fuzzy :( If anyone knows the new dimensions, please comment them so I can fix my thumbnail lol. Another thing I want to know is what's going to happen to studios if the owner deletes their account and keeps projects and studios? If they leave, obviously the studio can't be updated and will slowly die, but will someone else become the "owner?" (This would be a smart thing to do if the ST wants to keep lots of studios active) I don't know. I might make an account to test this out. - - - 3. Things I Don't Like. The manager limit. A lot of more well-known studios (ie the Scratch Welcoming Committee Studio, Future FPCs, FPCAH, etc.) have small communities of managers that deserved to have that title and were trusted to update the studio. This also brings me to another issue, the manager privileges. Many of the studios I just mentioned also have owners that aren't always active or have left, and those studios need to be updated/projects need to be added pretty frequently. This is a problem, because now that managers can't add projects or edit the description, these studios require an active owner. Future FPCs already moved to a new studio because of this. I know that the manager thing was to prevent studios from being raided among other things, but these problems can easily be avoided in the old format by only promoting scratchers you trust. Another thing I don't like is the reply limit. A limit of 25 replies per comment causes a conflict for Studios with a lot of conversation, like chat studios or roleplay studios. It's also annoying to me because we scratchers only get direct comment messages from studios when someone replies to our comments. Say I'm having a conversation in one of my studios and we've reached the reply limit. The other person comments above it to continue the conversation. I don't know immediately when the other person comments because I don't get a message. I just really don't like that part of the update. Also the little tab where you can invite followers is gone, which can be pretty inconvenient. - - - 4. Things the ST Could Add/Change Mostly things I talked about in the previous section. Also, adding a privileges feature for studio owners so that they can edit the restrictions of managers wouldn't be a bad idea. - - - 5. Notes and Closing Thoughts This project is not meant to be offensive to the ST or anyone that likes the new studio update. It is merely stating my opinions and feedback on the modifications to the format of the studio. Thank you for reading, and Scratch on! ALSO I just reread this and I realized I said "things" about a million times- I'm too lazy to change it so just ignore that haha.
