This is a ToPH theory. It is very small and probably wrong. But here it is So why are the dragonflies in StarClan? Well, because Shiningstream kept them there. Maybe he wanted to make sure that the newly comfirmed Reedstar would be controlled or wouldn't escape. Maybe it was something else entirely. How would us Fanboo Fan Fishies know? How does Softffur's possession thing work? I don't really know. I do think that each of the deities has one bug that contains more power than the others. This one spider happens to be Softfur's. Bearshine is attempting to control her and failing, although she is tampering with her emotions. This 'one bug' theory works with Saffronpaw's butterfly that *slightly* possessed him and Goldenfur's smashed dragonfly that summoned Reedstar. If this bug held more power, it makes sense that it would do something more powerful. Also, the 'one bug' might also be the place where the lesser bug magic goes once the bug it was trapped in. If all the other bugs were smashed and magic in the last 'one bug', it would release all the bug magic at once and have a much more powerful result.
