Next morning, 7:49 AM on Sunday, November 30. Full moon, Wolf Potion ready. I was meeting Shadow at 2:45 later. I wondered how the twins and Naomi would react. I got out of bed and got ready for today. I opened the window for fresh air, and looked out to see if Naomi and the twins were up yet. The windows were still dark. A couple minutes later, the twin’s window lit up. I sat back down at the desk, and opened up a book that I’d originally started reading as an assignment for creative writing, but it turned out to be one of my favorite books, so I was on the third book in the series. /Knock, knock/. “Come in,” I called. Brazen opened the door and walked in. “Hey,” he greeted me. “Hi. Harlow still asleep?” I replied. He nodded. “Yep.” I nodded. Brazen glanced over at my desk, where the letters from Shadow were. “Who’re those from?” he asked, not looking, just curious. “Shadow. Just asking me something,” I answered. “Okay,” he replied. Just then, another knock on the door. “Come in,” I called. Naomi walked in. “Hey, guys.” “Morning,” Brazen replied. I smiled at her. Naomi sat on the bed. Brazen leaned against a bookshelf, while I sat at my desk. We were silent, I was thinking about things. Knock, knock. Harlow walked in after Naomi opened the door. “Breakfast?” She asked. I got out of my chair and nodded. Brazen headed out the door, and Naomi and I followed. We headed towards the dining hall, Brazen and Harlow in the lead, Naomi and I lagging behind. “What were you talking about with Shadow yesterday? You know, while me and the twins were in the trees, and you two were walking below us?” I asked her. She hesitated before answering, “You.” “What about me?” I knew I was being pushy, I just wanted to confirm why she acted… not exactly how I knew her to act around Shadow. We reached the dining hall before she could reply. “Tell you later,” she said as we went in. After breakfast, pancakes for all, we went back to our rooms. Brazen and Harlow went into their room, while Naomi followed me into mine. “So?” I asked her. “What we were talking about was if Shadow liked you,” She answered, looking at the floor from her seat on my bed. I was at my desk. “Oh. She can tell you that better than I can,” I told her. “I know that. She already answered the question.” After a moment’s hesitation, she continued, “She doesn’t.” “Okay.” “Do you?” I looked at her, trying to draw her gaze from the floor. “No, I don’t.” She nodded, and looked up, into my eyes. I looked back, not wavering. “What was your brother’s name?” I asked, just to break the silence. “C-Carlos. He wants to write to you to talk and prepare you, by the way,” she replied. “Okay, I’ll write first if he wants. He’ll come back eventually. You just need to believe he’ll come,” I told her, meaning it. She got up and hugged me. “Thanks, Wolf,” she said, pulling away. I nodded. “You’re welcome.” Then she kissed me. We stayed there for a minute or two, or it might’ve been ten, I don’t know. When she finally pulled away, we were both smiling.
