Instructions

November 29. Saturday morning, I woke up to the sound of Harlow and Brazen arguing a couple doors down. I smiled, getting dressed. Familiar sounds were nice. I opened the door and walked out. The twins had given up arguing, and they were outside in the hallway, waiting for Naomi and me. “Morning,” Harlow said, smiling. “Hi.” I closed the door behind me. Naomi came out of her room, and greeted us. We walked down the hallway towards the dining hall. We sat at our usual table, the noisy breakfast hall getting busier by the moment. Even though it was Saturday, many students were up early, to study, or hang out more. The latter was more likely. The four of us finished our breakfast, Brazen and Harlow with donuts and chocolate milk, Naomi with waffles and hot chocolate, and me with pancakes and orange juice. Next, we went to Naomi’s room to do school stuff. Brazen went to work writing his creative writing paper, Harlow studying stuff for Enchanting, Naomi went over stuff for Spell-Casting, and I looked over the Wolf Potion recipe from my mom. For Potions, we needed to present to Professor Brooks a potion we made from scratch of our choice. We could use one from another source, or from the book. I’ll bet you know what I did. After we reviewed and wrote things for classes, we went our separate ways to get hands-on experience. Brazen and Harlow went to Spell-Casting to practice the newest spell, The Controlling Curse. When casted correctly, you can control the victim. If you’ve read Harry Potter, this is similar to the Imperius Curse. Naomi went to Healing to practice, while I went to Potions. “Hi, Professor Brooks,” I called as I went into the classroom. “Hello, Acwulf,” Professor Brooks greeted me as he stepped out of his office, “What brings you here today?” “I need Potion supplies for presenting the assignment.” “Okay. What Potion?” I showed him the recipe. “Ah, the Wolf Potion. What do you have?” He asked. We gathered the ingredients I needed, and I started making the potion. Professor Brooks didn’t allow potion brewing in our dorms, so we had to do it in the Potions Classroom. At lunchtime, I had finished brewing the potion. I put it in a bottle, and Professor Brooks graded my presentation. We didn’t have to present it during class, so it was easier to do my presentation outside of the class, because of the hints it could drop. I met up with Naomi and the twins just outside the dining hall. We sat down at our usual table, the dining hall already crowded. Most students were at a table, but some were walking around, talking to friends. We all got the lunch special, deep-dish pizza with meatballs and extra cheese. It was awesome. After, for dessert, we had cookies from my mom. We had limeade for a drink. When we finished, we went to our rooms. This time, all of us went to my room. That was a first for this year. I sat at my desk, Brazen on the floor, Harlow on the edge of my bed, and Naomi on the bed, too, but near the pillow. Naomi opened up a book for Literacy. Harlow studied spells for Spell-Casting. Brazen looked over his Creative Writing paper, while I practiced Enchanting work. We finished studying for school on Monday. Since it was only 2:16, we went down to the woods to kill time. Shadow was at the mouth of the woods, waving. “Hey,” I said, walking up to her. Brazen and Harlow waved, then climbed a tree, as usual. Naomi started up a conversation with Shadow, while I followed the twins. We met up in the Wolf Fruit Tree clearing. Naomi, Shadow and I sat under a tree, while the twins climbed the trees above us. “How’s your grandmother?” I asked Shadow. “She’s good.” She replied. Naomi was silent most of the time Shadow and I talked. I wondered why, but then I realized Naomi was jealous of Shadow. I guess because she thought Shadow liked me. Which she didn’t, and I didn’t like Shadow the way I liked Naomi. Shadow and I were just friends, and we were way too similar. Naomi and I were different from each other, but I knew we had things in common, too. Eventually, Shadow left to go home. The four of us explored a bit deeper into the forest, and then the dinner bell rang. “Race you,” Brazen challenged us. “You’re on,” Harlow and I said in unison. Naomi sprinted towards school, Harlow, Brazen and I not far behind. I won, just barely. Naomi had been an inch ahead of me, but I managed to pass her at the end. “You two are fast,” Harlow commented as we walked to the dining hall. I shrugged. Naomi nodded. We sat at our usual table, the dining hall already packed with students getting food and eating. I got a pizza, Naomi got a sandwich, Brazen got a hamburger, and Harlow got fish and chips. (Cont. Description

(Story Cont.) When we finished eating dinner, we slowly walked back to the dorms. I went inside mine for a second, then came back out with the tins of cookies my mom had sent last night. We all took one, then Brazen and Harlow went to their room, and Naomi went into hers. “Night, guys,” I called after them. “Night, Wolf,” Naomi replied, smiling as she shut the door. Brazen waved as if he were going on a long trip, then followed Harlow inside. I smiled at my friend, then closed the door. I had a note on my desk. It was in a handwriting I didn’t recognize, so I read it quickly. Wolf, Meet me at the Wolf fruit grove tomorrow before you need to go in for dinner. Don’t bring anyone else with you, this needs to be secret between you and me. Come so that you have at least one hour before dinner. -Shadow I looked at the clock. It read 8:04 PM. I sat on the desk chair and started writing a reply. Shadow, Okay, I’ll come. Should I bring anything with me? -Wolf P.S. Do you need any supplies for the Wolf Potion for tomorrow night? I have all of it over here. I sent the reply to the general area of her grandmother’s house, then laid down to sleep. However, her note had made me too excited. It was Sunday tomorrow, so I was fine with that. Around 10 minutes later, her reply came through the open window. I sprang out of bed to read it. Wolf, My grandmother made it the other day, so I’m good. Thanks for asking, though. I don’t think you’ll need anything. Do you know a summoning charm, in case you do need something? -Shadow. Shadow, Yeah, I know a summoning charm. Okay, so I’ll come at 2:45; we’ll have an hour and fifteen minutes. -Wolf Wolf, Good. That’s a good time. See you then. -Shadow. I finished reading her reply, then I walked over in my pjs, then crashed on the bed, not realizing how tired I was as the clock struck 9:00pm. Notes/Credits: So, I am writing a story.
