ATTENTION: If you get bad performance or any visual glitches, click the game window and then press Ctrl+M to disable Stage3D. (Scroll down for table of contents) News: I've begun work on a complete re-write of this game, and I leave it for the Scratch community to finish if they so choose (link below). This game originally started as a small project that got bigger and bigger, so it was never really designed properly for expansion and modification, making it very difficult to edit and debug even for me, the one who built it from the ground up! In the re-write, everything in the code is carefully named and compartmentalized. It is also supposed to be easy to change the player and boss characters by copying and modifying their sprites. Feel free to remix and continue on with the project: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/97916907/ Table of Contents: 1.) Overview 2.) Controls 3.) Recommended Hand Position 4.) Game Settings & Difficulty Options 5.) Improving Performance ------------------------------------- 1.) Description: Fight Nightmare Zero and defeat him. Prepare yourself for a tough fight. Even though he's not the real Zero, but an imperfect clone, he's a force to be reckoned with! What he lacks in power and form, he makes up for with under-handed tactics, like random speed, crazy attacks! 2.) Controls: Arrow keys - Move right, left, crouch (or Jump, depending on your settings, see below) Spacebar - Jump (hold/tap to control height) D key - Dash (press while jumping off a wall to do a dash wall jump!) X key - X Buster, hold to charge Z key - Slash with the Z-Saber, does a combo attack on the ground 3.) Recommended Finger layout: Have your right hand on the arrow keys, and your left hand as follows- Thumb on Space Bar, pinkie on the Z key, ring finger resting on the X key, and the middle finger resting on the D key. That's how I play it (me being the project author). 4.) Game Settings and Difficulty Options - These are for the settings in the Options menu on the first page -- Flash Effects - These are the sprite flash effects that use brightness settings. I like how they look, but they increase lag sometimes, so you can turn them off with this. Auto-Charge - Helps with control. You charge up automatically if not pressing X. The charge effect does not always display correctly however. Double-Tap Dash - Dash just by double-tapping the arrow keys in the appropriate direction, so you don't have to use the D key. Jump Key - 1 is use the Space Bar to jump, 2 is use the Up arrow key. Beware, you can only have one button set at a time, not both! Difficulty -- Normal - Normal game settings. Play this first. Xtreme - Most notable change here is that NZ has about double the HP. He also attacks slightly faster in some ways, his shockwaves are slightly bigger, and he adds 2 new attacks at under half HP, the Phantom Slash, and the Genmurei Kai. 5.) Performance Tips: - Most glitches and bad performance are caused for me by Stage3D being enabled, try switching it off by clicking the project window and then pressing Ctrl+M - Turn off the Flash Effects in "Settings" - Have only have one browser window open with only ONE tab - Check in task manager to make sure your CPU and RAM isn't all used up - Use the Offline Player, or do some hax & stuff and convert my project to an .exe file and play it that way - Try playing in a different browser, I hear Chrome isn't good for flash games.
1.) Strategy Guide 2.) Version Changes 3.) Credits -------------------------------------- 1.) Strategy Guide: - When you're flying blind, the wall is your friend. Stay on the wall where you're generally safer until you know NZ's attack pattern - Use the z-saber, it always stuns him and does more damage than a charge shot if you hit him with the ground combo (in X6 it was his weakness) - N Zero's regular wide sword beams (this is the Genmurei) can be ducked/dashed under (except when he flashes first, then he will throw more of them and they can be too large to avoid by ducking; see below) - If he stops, holds his saber up, and starts flashing, get as high on the wall as you can! This is your only chance to escape his power attack, the charged up Genmurei Kai! - When he does a smash-down attack try to space yourself to dodge it, or get as far away as possible, however this is very difficult; better yet stun him with the Z-Saber before he can even use this attack. - If you miss your chance to stun him, get on the wall, and then jump off as the attack starts so you can see the positions of the ground blasts ahead of time and move mid-air to dodge them. - He gets harder once you get his HP down to half. He'll start attacking faster and add a few tricks to his bag - When he gets hit with a strong attack he's invulnerable for a second afterward, take this into account when using the z-saber after a charge shot, instead hit him with the z-saber then wait for him to reappear to fire a shot at him - If NZ appears to both sides of you, watch out! He's preparing for a double shockwave attack where he will scissor you with a sword slash shockwave from both sides! Jump right before he throws the slash so he aims too high. NZ's Attacks: Z-Buster - Fires two charged Z-Buster shots one after the other Slash Shockwave - Slashes a small semi-homing shockwave at you using the Nightmare Z-Saber Slash - Readies his Z-Saber for a slash but hesitates randomly due to glitches in his programming Giga-Smash (Zero had screen-clearing moves like this in the games that were always called Giga Attacks) - Gathers energy in his hand and then punches the ground causing shockwaves that shake the screen and send projectiles up from the floor Dash - Tries to ram you by dashing into you 2.) Version Differences - Newer Changes - - X sheathes the saber while idling if you stop after a slash - You shouldn't be able to attack during the cutscene now - Nightmare Zero's AI and attacks should just be a bit "better" - fixed a rogue Giga Smash projectile sprite from appearing at the top of the screen - you should actually be able to dodge Giga Smash sprites now by standing in between them, however it's almost impossible to dodge by being above Nightmare Zero now General Changes ported from the bugged version (which was supposed to be the finished version of the v3 Beta): - Bug with the hitbox not setting correctly for crouching (meaning you couldn't duck attacks) fixed - Idling animation scripting improved, should resolve more animation bugs - NZ dashing trail effect spacing, and NZ's AI for not getting too close to walls while dashing should be slightly better - When charging a Genmurei Kai NZ should freeze with the saber above his head flashing now, instead of bugging into other animations
