--[6/5/21]-- keyboard broke -- [6/7/21 update] -- ok, so follow up/further explanation: On saturday, I was trying to work on my technical report for class and I couldn't focus inside the apartment so I decided, "Hmm, I'll study on the front lawn! Just bring various paperback library books and my electronics onto the grass and this couldn't possibly go wrong." And to be fair it did help with focusing for about an hour and then the sprinklers came on. Needless to say I kinda freaked out, frantically grabbed everything to get it out of the drenching water, and after finding a dry spot on the sidewalk (which was kind of in everyone's way), looked over the damage. Initially it seemed pretty ok; one of the books was looking a little warped but would probably be fine? Idk hopefully the library doesn't charge me a ton of money for that. The computer screen was covered in water droplets but seemed (and still seems) fine. And for the first few minutes, I think, the type cover seemed to be working ok too, though I did try to put it upside down on the cement to dry it out. which might have wound up being its downfall? Or maybe something in it broke when I snatched it to get it off the grass? Idk, it was probably water damage, but a few minutes later the left half of the keys stopped responding (spacebar included) and, after I tried troubleshooting the connection between the two (there are some nodes on the bottom of the computer that attach to the keyboard magnetically) the whole thing stopped responding altogether. Anyways, it turns out it's still not working. I was able to borrow a bluetooth keyboard from my roommate's dad and I'm writing this on that (trust me I would not be this rambly with the on-screen touch keyboard oh my gosh) but uh yeeah it's still pretty... i'm not used to it. and i didn't realize how much of what I do on computer requires the keyboard.i mean my paper ofc but also my workwork is mostly programming and even drawing and stuff i use the keyboard shortcuts a lot oh man oh man bluetooth keyboards are apparently pretty affordable but the kind that attaches to this computer is quite expensive ghh this is why computer people supposedly never go outside isn't it also school is crazy but the technical report is due tonight and then i think the remaining assignments are this one thing that i think is in class andthen some video editing, which I'm pretty proficient in if i do say so myself. i mean. i know most of my uploads are on here but i do work with after effects Quite A Bit. So hopefully the worst of it is almost over. and i should really stop procrastinating by rambling about this. just. idk. is this a vent? an update? a random rant? I have no idea. practice on the borrowed bluetooth keyboard perhaps.
TL;DR: I tried to study outside, my keyboard no longer works, I'm probably gonna get a new one soon but in the meantime I'm using another so actually things are probably going fine. initially i was kinda panicking though. oh also i might be dropping some maps? Like i wanna keep Tir Na Nog because i like what i have so far and don't wanna waste it but uh other maps i'm in-- if you see this pls ask and I'll probably let you know what the plan is. Sorry, I just... since I moved out it's been hard to get invested in the art projects i signed up for back before moving. maybe i'm just not finding as much time to really draw committedly because of school. :/ but uh yeah.
