We circled around the darkest part of the forest, and eventually met up with the twins at the intercepting point between the dark and light. “Hey,” Brazen greeted us. Harlow grinned and tossed us some berries. “Thanks,” Naomi replied. I studied the berries, decided they were safe, and popped them in my mouth. “Where’d you find these?” I asked as we headed back to the school building. “Near the Wolf Fruit Tree grove,” Harlow replied. “Oh, okay.” We walked through the busy halls of the school, enjoying the second-to-last day of Fall break together. Brazen was in the lead, Harlow behind him. I was behind the twins, silently thinking, while Naomi brought up the rear. I was deep in my thoughts, so I didn’t realize that Brazen and Harlow had stopped outside the dining hall. I almost crashed into them, but I stepped on my foot to stop myself. “Lunch,” Brazen told us as the lunch bell rang. We followed him inside, and got our food. Brazen had a burger and chips, Harlow had a fish sandwich with fries, Naomi had a Philly cheesesteak sandwich with popcorn, and I had a ham, havarti, and apple butter sandwich with a banana. Our drinks were all pumpkin juice. We all finished about 10 minutes later. Afterwards, we walked down to our row of dorms. As we were walking, Brazen pivoted on his heel and turned around, “Knock, knock.” “Who’s there?” I replied. “Howl.” “Howl who?” “Howl you be dressing up this Halloween?” I laughed harder than I expected. Naomi grinned behind me at Brazen, and Harlow was trying, but failing, not to laugh. “I don’t know, how will you be dressing up?” I asked once I stopped laughing. He shrugged, “I don’t know, maybe a clown?” I smirked, “Brazen the clown. Do you even have the parts to make it?” “Good point,” he replied. We kept walking, and by the time we got to the dorms, Brazen had thought of a new idea. “I know. I’ll be a toilet paper mummy,” he decided as we stopped outside our dorms. “Don’t get caught stealing all the toilet paper for that.” Naomi told him. He laughed, “Oh, I won’t.” “What about you, Harlow?” I asked, leaning against the wall. “Oh, um, I’ll be a… witch,” she decided. Brazen grinned at his sister, “Awesome. A mummy with a witch for a sister. This’ll be fun.” We stepped inside the twin’s dorm, since it was the largest. “What’s our plan for tonight?” Naomi asked, sitting down on Brazen’s bed. Brazen plopped into the desk chair, and Harlow sat on her bed. I sat on the floor. We thought for a moment. “How about this? Brazen and Harlow will go trick-or-treating, since they have costume plans. Naomi and I, we’ll hand out candy from here. That way, we’ll get to share the candy we have leftover and you get from trick-or-treating,” I suggested. “Good idea and all, but what candy are you giving away?” Brazen asked. /Smack/. Brazen jumped, and looked at the window. Three bags of candy, one larger than the other, were levitating just outside the window, with a note tied to one of the smaller ones. I sprang up, recognizing the handwriting on the note. Brazen opened the window, and I grabbed the bags. The note read: Wolf, Happy Birthday! And happy halloween. I hope you can use this candy for trick-or-treating, or just eat it. Have fun! -Epifanio P.S. The larger bag is for Brazen and Harlow to share “What is it?” Brazen asked. “Candy,” I replied. I tossed Naomi the bag without the note, and threw Brazen the larger bag. “That’s for you to share with Harlow,” Naomi told Brazen, looking over at my note. “Okay,” Brazen replied, tossing a handful of candy to his sister. Harlow caught the candy, but didn’t eat it. “Which are we using for giving out candy?” “We can use Naomi’s and mine first, then if needed use yours,” I decided. “Okay,” Brazen agreed. Harlow nodded, and Naomi snagged the bag from Brazen’s hand to keep it safe, in case we needed it. I guess we’d been talking for a while, but soon after that the dinner bell rang. We went to the dining room, and ate. All of us got the Halloween Special: Mummy Enchiladas and Pumpkin Pie, with Pumpkin Juice. Once we finished, the twins led the way towards our dorms. Brazen “took a bathroom break”, actually going to steal toilet paper for his costume. He met up with us outside the twin’s dorm. Harlow and Brazen went to change, and Naomi and I sifted through the candy bags we got while we waited. The twins started a trick-or-treating route, and Naomi and I went into their dorm to hand out candy to all the kids out for the night.
