Oakheart flicked his tail from side to side. He seemed distracted. Spottedleaf lowered her voice. "He went to the gathering with a few of our Warriors." Oakheart looked confused. He was taking over for RiverClan while the two homeless Clans recovered from their burns in the river. "Redstar didn't bring you? His medicine cat?" "I have had many signs about Redstar, and his decisions don't surprise me anymore," She confessed. "...Hm." Oakheart paused and looked Spottedleaf straight into her eyes. "Spottedleaf, we need to talk. Follow me." He started walking up the riverbank, past the burnt cats. It had been a day now, after the fire. As Spottedleaf began to run after him, she looked up at the sky, which was dark even though the sun was setting. Is this what StarClan had wanted? --> Part 2 (of ch. 28) <-- Birdflower kicked at the rocks under her paws. The soil under the rocks collapsed, into tiny little imprints in the earth. She sighed as the last bit of sun drained from the sky. She looked up and saw Firetail and Embersnake walking back from their patrol to find the rest of the Clan. "No luck?" Sandstorm called. "No luck." Firetail sighed. He was pressed up against Embersnake, which made Birdflower uncomfortable. Not because they were so close together, but because of the look Embersnake shot her. I'm your friend, She thought. Remember when you and me and Wolfshard and Eagle'talon used to play together? Hunt together? She thought of Wolfshard. She had seemed depressed lately. No jokes or anything. Would she ever see her friend again? Or did the fire get her? And Eagle'talon, or Ravenblink, or even little Wadekit and Mellowkit. What about them? She sighed as Embersnake shot her another look. "I'll go hunting," Birdflower left the small group of lost cats and went into the burnt forest. She'd be safe there. --> Part 3 <-- The tom flicked his tail from side to side. "Have you caught him?" He whispered to footsteps behind him. "No, Deadface." Deadface launched around and landed on the cat behind him. "Then do it, Tigerclaw. Do it and become a real warrior." The tom seemed to cry out from under his paws. This cat, this living cat, seemed so strong to others. But in his dreams? Not a chance against Deadface. "You tell that orange cat to kill her, and you kill the other one!" "What other one?" "The gray one, fool! The gray one will do anything for those two kits." "He-he's not here!" Deadface hissed and released Tigerclaw. "You've manipulated a leader- no- two leaders. Are you telling me you're weak?" But Tigerclaw was fading away, probably waking up into his real world. Deadface hissed again. But he paused. Didn't somebody tell him something about... He shrugged it off before he could remember any more horrible memories. It wasn't anything important, he thought.
