Lewis ran down the street, panting and gasping for breath. He wasn't very athletic, but now that he had a reason to run, there was no stopping him. People stopped and stared, but now he didn't care. The memory of his old friend was burned into his brain and he was desperate to see him one last time. "There's still time...", he thought. "There has to be...". Houses and trees melted into the background as he raced past them. Finally, he saw the white house with the picket fence. He slowed to a halt as he saw a black SUV back out of the driveway. "I'm too late..." he thought as he watched them leave. He fell to the ground and cried as the car turned a corner and disappeared forever. He turned his head to see a large white sign that read "FOR SALE" in thick blue letters. The Jones family had moved away.
