Instructions

* MOBILE FRIENDLY * IF YOU FIND THE ROBOTS TOO SCARY, GO INTO OPTIONS AND TURN ON PRACTICE MODE! Can you avoid the robots and escape the maze? Keep reading these instructions for valuable hints and tips... Left Arrow/A - Turn Left Right Arrow/D - Turn Right Up Arrow/W - Move Forwards Down Arrow/S - Move Backwards Space/Enter - Fire M - View map (hold to view) P - Pick up object L - Let go of object F - Freeze/Unfreeze game To pick up the crystals you need to stand so they’re directly in front of you, and then pressing P will pick them up. You have 3 lives, as indicated by the three arrows at the top right. They also turn to show you which direction you’re pointed in. This game works best with the sound on, as you can hear the robots coming... It pays to be cautious, and use the map to plan your route. If you run around like a headless chicken you’re going to die a lot! The maze is randomly generated and there are a number of different routes around it. To escape from the maze, you need to obtain the elevator key, which is locked in a chest hidden somewhere in the maze. To unlock the chest, you need to find the three crystals and drop them in. The chest will then open automatically, revealing the key. Use the map often, this will help you plan your route around the maze. The map only shows you where you have already explored, but it can always detect the locations of the robots. In the maze you can only properly see straight ahead of you, so you need to check every nook and cranny for the crystals! If a robot shoots at you, it is possible to shoot their bullet before it hits you. It's risky though! Robots have a maximum of 3 bullets, just like you. To recharge your gun, you need to walk over the recharge points, which are marked on the floor by pentangles. You cannot put down the key. You cannot pick up the chest! Robots will always follow the left wall, but don't get too close to them, as if you touch them you will lose a life. Robots cannot pass over crystals. You can use this information to keep the robots away from you as you explore the maze, by dropping crystals in strategic locations. If you do manage to escape back into the elevator, your reward is a new random level with an extra robot... Well, it's only a game after all!

Description

More information in the discussion topic: https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/topic/516763/ This is a re-imagining of Acornsoft Maze, which was a game for the Acorn Electron and the BBC Micro computer systems, published in 1984. Music is from The Crystal Maze TV show. Elevator sounds from Star Trek and Deep Space 9. Robot sounds from zapsplat.com Button sound from Minecraft. Title font is from The Maze Runner movie. Menu font is called Orbitron (suggested by @Chiroyce) Sprite depth sorting by @Griffpatch All sprite images found on stock image sites and adapted by me. The background animation of the intro screens is based on a windows screensaver called "Mystify your Mind". Other than the name, this game bears no relation to the Maze Runner books or movies! :) I wanted to make a 3D maze game but I didn't really know how to go about it. I had this idea of just zooming costumes, but didn't realise just how many costumes I would need! I guess my field of view is too wide - there are still some missing walls if you look hard enough. Anyway, it was quite an interesting project to do. I've been working on it on and off for nearly a year. I hope people like it! #games #arcade #retro #strategy #maze #mobile #description(In this retro 3D maze game, you must dodge the robots and find the chest which contains the key to the elevator. How many levels can you escape?)
