Instructions

Full screen to read everything! Sorry for bad handwriting lol If you want to submit something for me to critique, from now on I am only accepting them in a certain format. Read Notes and Credits for details! A lot of people asked me for critiques, and I figured it would be more efficient to do them all in one project, so here they are! Instructions for looking through them: Computer: Click on a button to enter that section, keep clicking or use left and right arrows to navigate. Down arrow or click the home button to go back to the main screen. (Will automatically exit at the end of the section too) Mobile: Tap the button to enter that section, click to advance. Home button to go back to the main screen. (Will automatically exit at the end of the section too) @ everyone who was critiqued: your specific critique is under your name, but the last three buttons on the bottom right are more general technique/craft related subjects that I separated so everyone could see them easily. I will note for each person which parts under those sections are "made" for them, but I hope you will find all the information there interesting! Verdeiia: I think if you're looking for ways to branch out, the G/P/C tab has a lot going on! Looking forward to seeing more from you! Capishq: There's a little bit of everything for you in all the misc. sections, so I hope you'll check out all three! But when practicing, remember not to feel like you have to tackle them all at once! You're already developing a lot of cool visions and I'm excited to see them grow further! CatCoderMeow: I think you have the most to gain from the G/P/C tab! You have a very clean and polished rendering style, I think now is the time to start bringing those performances to life in your poses. And it can never hurt to work on perspective drawing! Txmato: Your style is very experimental, which means more flexibility in what is acceptable in the realm of your drawings! I think the G/S/P tab would be most beneficial to you, let's expand your toolkit further so you can go wilder! GalaxyDoodles: I love seeing you get lost in that sauce (portraits and poses, I mean haha)! I think working on some color composition and lighting effects will elevate your work even more. You might also want to do some research of color theory and harmony on your own, I think you'd enjoy it! Zaphyre: Those mermaid sketches were soo cute!! I think the G/S/P section is most relevant to you right now. If you make any finished art pieces that attempt color design or rendering, of course feel free to submit it for critique again! (I'm developing a new format for that, so check it out in N+C!) Peaceful_Dork: What a cool concept! I recognized a lot of the movies you've been drawing from, which is really fun as a film student. It would be great for you to start practicing with shading and different light values (with a pencil, and practice from real life!), but in terms of the scope of this critique set I'd like you to take a look in the G/P/C and specifically read the pages from Walt Stanchfield that I took photos of. For me they really help put into perspective what is important in a drawing and how to convey my ideas well, so I hope they help you too! Daftisfy: I adore that focus on fashion you've had! I understand that, working with traditional materials, there can be limits to your options for coloring and rendering. So I think you were right to ask about foreshortening, and that along with some other stuff you might like is in the G/P/C section! Hope you learn something new today! Warriorsisawesome: ugh Nicole your illustrations are so hard to critique because I love them!! I left some specific notes for you about coloring shadows in Color Comp, but of course, feel free to poke around in the other sections, you might find something new or interesting!

Description

Okay, so people have been kind of just tossing art at me and being like "please critique this!" Which is fine of course, and I'd love to help you, but because I have less time than I'd like to sort through it, from now on I will only accept a request for a critique if you include the following information AND post the request either on my profile or on this project so I can access it easily: -A link to the project where the art is (and if it's something like an art dump or has more than one drawing, you MUST specify which one you want me to look at) -At least one specific thing that you want me to give you advice on (it can be anything though!) -At least one specific thing that you personally think you did well on -The stage of completion of the art (is it a sketch, a WIP, or do you consider it to be a polished/finished work? Or anything inbetween) -What was your intent for this piece? (Study of something - can I see the original? Practice - of what? If it's a finished piece, what did you want to convey to the viewer in your artwork?) If you can, provide a little bit of background behind the creation of it too. -I have a preference (but not requirement) for pieces where you are trying something new or that you are not used to - growth pieces! If you only show me things you are used to making and you are already good at, I may not be able to say a whole lot about them. If you're missing any of these things, I will ask you for them; without them, I will not critique you. Feel free to provide any extra info you would like me to know about your art as well, or about yourself and what you've been trying to improve on lately, etc. anything helps, I want to be as specific with you as possible without stepping on any toes! Please remember that I never want to hurt your feelings or make you feel like you should stop drawing. Art is such a wonderful thing! And if I do make you feel bad, please let me know so I can apologize and try to explain in a more positive way what I was trying to get across. Also, from now on if you want me to critique you an ADDITIONAL time (does not apply to first timers) please show me in some way, shape, or form that you were paying attention to the existing critique that I gave you and are trying something from it! If it's not helping you work on your art, there's no point. This is also to try to avoid grifters who just want their art to be featured by me somewhere for attention (although I'm sure none of you reading this are causing trouble!) Credits! Artists and their art in the project: @Verdeiia @Capishq @CatCoderMeow @Txmato @GalaxyDoodles @Zaphyre @Peaceful_Dork @Daftisfy @Warriorsisawesome I also included pages from Walt Stanchfield's Drawn to Life book (the first volume)-- those in the photos.
