Estimates by me may differ from official reports - #SpreadTheWord Cyclone Seroja was a devastating storm. The storm started off near Timor. As I was casually saying that some minor impacts were expected in Timor and Indonesia, Catestrophic flooding was occurring. Over 200 people in Indonesia and Eastern Timor were killed, making it the third deadliest storm in the basin's history. After that, the storm headed south. At the time, most models were calling for a major cyclone with some models even calling for a category 5. However, due to interaction with Tropical Storm Odette, Seroja could not intensify much. After Odette finally died, Seroja neared the coast of Australia as a category 1. However, just hours before landfall, the storm rapidly intensified into a category 2, making landfall just after peak intensity.
