Valid answers: Scenario 1 Scenario 2 Scenario 3 I made this project because I kept rewatching Kurzgesagt's video about the Earth turning into gold. I always thought about it, and I felt the urge to make something based off of it. Original Earth pixel art made by a deleted user on r/pixelart, modified by me to remove the background Scenario 1 Explanation: Every atom that makes up Earth has gained electrons, protons, and neutrons to become gold. The gold atoms are a lot closer than they would want to be, so they repel each other and cause the Earth to violently explode. Scenario 2 Explanation: Every atom that makes up Earth has been rearranged into gold atoms. This caused Earth to become spongy, with tons of microscopic gaps in the gold. Gravity began to shrink Earth to 2/3 of its former size, with a mean diameter of 8,495 kilometers, compared to its former 12,742. Earth essentially imploded, crashed into itself, and reformed into a golden world. Scenario 3 Explanation: Earth was replaced by an object made out of solid gold with the same volume as the original planet. However, what did change was the planet's mass. It jumped up from 5.972 * 10^24 kilograms to a whopping 20.902 * 10^24 kilograms, or 3.5 times as massive. This caused everything on its surface to collapse under its own weight, and everything that was able to fly or glide could not do that anymore. The surface and atmosphere became super hot, and started to topographically level itself out, due to the fact that gold is malleable and is weaker than other metals. The oceans started overflowing, turning the world into a super hot oceanic planet. So yeah.. maybe I WOULDN'T turn the Earth into gold. (Especially YOU, Midas.)
