Instructions

CLICK "SEE INSIDE" THEN CLICK THE GREEN FLAG. This mini project is meant to help PowerUp your ability to move your OWN sprites in your OWN projects. Here we learn about what "y" is on a vertical number line, and how we can move our sprites up and down.

Description

Standard 5.G.1 Compose and understand the coordinate plane. a. Use a pair of perpendicular number lines, called axes, to define a coordinate system, with the intersection of the lines (the origin) arranged to coincide with the zero on each line and a given point in the plane located by using an ordered pair of numbers, called its coordinates. b. Using quadrant one on the coordinate plane, understand that the first number in a coordinate pair indicates how far to travel from the origin in the direction of the horizontal axis, and the second number indicates how far to travel in the direction of the vertical axis, with the convention that the names of the two axes and the coordinates correspond (x-axis and x-coordinate, y-axis and y-coordinate). Teachers: This mini lesson is designed to be used IN CONJUNCTION with students working on a project. Not as a standalone. The students' own project should act as "practice" to solidify these concepts
