This is a teaching resource (ignore the code behind it). It is a Demonstration of Division as continuous Subt-ACTION. I've used ordinary language to make sense of the maths terms. The BIG NUMBER (is the Dividend). The continuous TAKE-AWAY NUMBER (is the Divisor). The AFTER TAKEAWAY LIST (is the action of continuous subtraction). It's LENGTH tells the number of times you can SUBTRACT the divisor from the Dividend. The REMAINDER is the number that's too small for another subtr-ACTION. (Its smaller than the Divisor).
Task at end: Explain what you get when you multiply the Divisor by the Quotient and then add the remainder. See the extra PDF worksheet and resources at Link 3 at www.readysteadycode.ie/magic-maths
