Panicked cries woke Snowstar. The shockingly cold dampness of the air told her to look outside of her den. She saw cats dashing around in camp, trying to find the highest ground, and cold water up to cat's thighs. She shivered, and looked around the clearing. All the cats were awake, most of them huddled on top of highrock. "Snowstar! The swamp is flooding! What do we do?" Iceflower said, dashing over to Snowstar. "First make sure every cat is safe. Get them all to high ground. I'm going to figure out where we're going to go." Snowstar looked around in the distance. There was StormClan, which was no doubt safe from the flooding, but Snowstar would rather drown in the flood than bring her Clan there. The valley isn't an option, neither is the swamp. She turned around, and looked at the stonehills, and how high above the water they were. And as a bonus, the moonstone was there, and she could speak to her ancestors. Snowstar bounded up the highrock and announced to her Clan, "We are going to go to the stonehills. Everyone look out for eachother, and make sure that the elders and kits don't get left behind." Snowstar scooped Dewkit up by the scruff, while Sundrop carried her other kit. Something caught Snowstar's eye as she turned towards the stonehills. A smooth, long, brown object swam towards the cats. "Mud serpent! Everyone get to the stonehills! Quickly!" She yowled, and all the cats leaped into the foggy brownish-green water and swam away. The serpent swam closer, and three more floated to the surface. One lunged for Snowstar, and it barely missed, its outstretched jaws making a large splash as it landed back in the water. The cats swam, poor Dewkit and Thornkit were submerged in the water more than any other cat because they couldn't swim and had to be carried by their scruff. Dewkit mewed uncomfortably, but Thornkit just scowled. The Clan finally reached the stonehills, and everyone dragged themselves on to the smooth stone, and sighed in relief as the serpents growled and swam away. Snowstar led the Clan to the cave that leaders and medicine cats stayed in while they spoke to StarClan. She made sure everyone was okay, then she went to the moonstone and laid down. She touched her nose to the cold, glimmering stone. End of Part Fifteen
