Snowstar waited patiently in the pit while Starpaw ran to get help. Starpaw returned with Iceflower and Skipperstone. Snowstar and the others went back to camp. Iceflower was telling her just how many had left. When Snowstar arrived in camp, it was eerily quiet. No weeps of longing from any cat, no kits or apprentices asking where their families were, only the silent sorrow of those who stayed behind. Snowstar padded gently around the camp, talking to each cat, and reassuring them. Iceflower did the same. Snowstar padded up to Toadstone. "Hey. Are you feeling alright?" Snowstar asked. Toadstone looked up, his green eyes clouded with sadness. "I was going to leave, but then the thought of Featherbreeze reminded me that I should remain loyal to my Clan, whether there's any cat left that I love or not." He said solemnly. "I am grateful that you chose to stay. And-" Snowstar held back tears. "I'm sorry for all you've lost. I hope you're able to find happiness soon." She said. Snowstar entered the medicine den, where Shadepaw angrily muttered to herself while she sorted a pile of leaves and berries. "Shadepaw?" Snowstar said. "Shadetuft. Troutpool gave me my full name before he left." Shadetuft said, her big, fluffy tail lashing angrily as she mumbled about Troutpool. "It'll be hard without him. I know it'll take some getting used to, but you'll be great." Snowstar told her. "But what if I'm not? What if I wasn't really ready and he gave me my name because he was leaving?" Shadetuft whipped around, tears in her eyes. "You're a good medicine cat. If he hadn't given you your full name then I would have." Snowstar said. Snowstar realized that Shadetuft didn't think she was ready, and Troutpool never tried to tell her she was ready. And Shadetuft hated him for it. "Please go. I want to be alone for a while." Snowstar nodded and left the medicine den. The soft trickle of rain that had begun while she was in the den grew to a pouring rainstorm as she went to her den for the night. End of Part Fourteen
