A white head popped out, gasping. Rhythm jumped out of the dirt, her claws immediately slashing the air. Her talons then slowed to a stop. She looked around, bewildered. This isn’t the battlefield. Where am I? Rhythm glanced at her pale talons, then gasped. Wait, what’s wrong with my- …oh. Oh, dear. Rhythm blinked. “I’m dead, aren’t I?” She said to herself. “A ghost.” She turned her head to her torso. She could see her own heart beating, somehow. I have to get back to the battle. I have to fight with them. I don’t want to, but I have to. Rhythm tapped her skull thoughtfully. I remember now… “No, please don’t-” Rhythm started. Queen Sunrise held up a talon. “Silence.” She hissed. Rhythm snapped her jaws shut, backing up slightly to join her sister, Cadence. “I will have you executed,” Sunrise growled, “For trying to leave this kingdom. Foolish of you.” “I’d say we’re a lot smarter than YOU,” Cadence snarled. Rhythm made panicked gestures to keep quiet, but her sister ignored her. “YOU’RE the one who made everyone else declare war on us.” Cadence continued, “By stealing their treasure, knowing perfectly well that Current has a huge army at his command. And would probably kill us all. It’s not our fault you’re an idiot.” Sunrise made a dangerous hissing noise. “Shut. UP!” She roared. She glared at Cadence. “Rrrgh. Annoying little chicken. I am doing an excellent job at keeping my temper, I think.” “I’m sorry,” Rhythm tried. Sunrise eyed her curiously. “Hm. Fine. I will let you stupid nuisances live, IF you obey my every command.” “What?! No way-” Cadence began. “Stop talking.” Sunrise snapped. Cadence growled, but stayed silent. “Much better. Now, close to my castle, there is a fight going on. Current himself is there. I want you to go kill him.” “What!?” Rhythm cried. “We can’t! He’s way stronger than us-!” “Go. Now.” Sunrise scowled at them, them flew away. Rhythm sighed. We fought him. Cadence got away, though. But me… She touched the scars on her neck. Not me. I have to go find Cadence. Rhythm thought.
