Hello peeps! I just decided to write this Scratch series called the Wolves of Obsidian and this is the next chapter. Enjoy! Cover by @squirrelflight1010! suddenly doing loads of chapters. It's because Wolves of Obsidian will have 40-40+ chapters and how do I put it- I want to get them out of the way and also I for once know what I'll put in these chapters. I'll be doing bonus chapters as well so don't fret! Anyway, enjoy! CHAPTER 38 Xgore/violence warningX Pain blossomed up from the bite and as Ember released his jaws, Obsidian staggered back, spitting blood. As she collapsed on the floor at the paws of Ember's Beta, Raven, the black she-wolf fell upon her along with the vicious grey-and-cream male, biting and raking. Obsidian let out a choked noise as her blood soaked from multiple wounds along her face and neck. "Kill! Kill!" Obsidian only realised that the ring of wolves were chanting when she saw - through a haze of pain, that Raven's lips were moving. "Kill! Kill!" I have to get the muzzle off, Obsidian thought dazedly through the pain. Then I'll at least have a chance. She staggered to her paws and made as if to charge at Ember, but veered away at the last moment, smashing her muzzle into a huge boulder within the ring. There was a sickening crack and a stab of pain in her muzzle as the stone muzzle cracked in two, falling on each side of Obsidian. There was a stunned silence. Then Ember gave a roar of fury and sprang at Obsidian, raking his powerful claws down her flank. Obsidian staggered back, flexing her muzzle to get feeling into it as new pain like hot coals tore across her flank where Ember had ripped. Faintly, through the vicious chants and the searing pain, Obsidian heard a faint, weak, gravelly voice, which she recognised at once. Shadowfang! "You know what to do, Obsidian," the voice croaked, before lapsing into silence. Those simple words sent strength and new determination through Obsidian, and, with a truly murderous growl and a raking of paws, Obsidian sprang at Ember. The Shadow Warrior let out a shriek of rage and pain as Obsidian bowled him over, not taking any heed to the pain in her side. It seemed to happen in slow motion. As Ember struggled to right himself, paws raking and pummelling painfully at Obsidian's exposed underbelly, she unhinged her jaws, and, feeling no regret, spewed a hot stream of blue, sizzling lava all over Ember's throat. Ember froze. So did the ring of wolves. Obsidian limped coolly off him and watched darkly as, with a rasping, choked snarl, Ember's eyes glazed over and the smell of burning filled the air. Obsidian turned away, the pain finally catching up with her. She staggered a few steps, then lurched sideways, her breaths coming in fast snorts. EmberPack stared blankly down at her, their chests heaving in horror. Then, one by one, they stepped towards her, lowering their heads and snarling deeply. Obsidian slipped on the churned grass as she tried to get to her paws to face the oncoming wave of wolves. As she dragged herself back, her sore flank hit something hard. Obsidian jerked her head, eyes wild, only for them to fall on Ember. Finally, the Shadow Warrior's breathing had ceased. His eyes remained full of hate and rage, almost as if he were still alive, but his skin was blackened, no longer red and raw as it usually was. It was over. Ember was finally dead. Obsidian had won. But she felt anything but victory as EmberPack bore down on her, lips wrinkled and hatred burning in their eyes.
