Hello peeps! I just decided to write this Scratch series called the Wolves of Obsidian and this is the next chapter. Enjoy! Cover by @squirrelflight1010! CHAPTER 37 Xgore/violence warningX "Wake up you filthy mongrel!" A voice snarled mockingly - impossibly loud in Obsidian's pointed ears. Where am I? Obsidian thought groggily. Her side hurt, an aching, dull agony and her head thumped so violently she had the unpleasant feeling of falling. It all came back to her in a rush, a rush so violent and terrifying that it forced her eyes open. As her vision adjusted, she realised she was in a dark cave, surrounded by wolves. A grey-and-cream male (who Obsidian recognised as the wolf that captured her) leered down at her, the horrible elastic-like scar on his spine stretching awfully. The wolves let out a loud volley of brutal barks when they saw she was awake. "Had a nice nap, ALPHA?" A marbled grey female snarled silkily, snapping at Obsidian's exposed flank. Obsidian tried to snap a sleepy yet fierce reply, and found she couldn't. They have clamped my muzzle! she thought, fully awake now and horrified. So I can't use my lava or talk my way out of this... She tried to heave herself up, but a black female and a brown-and-cream male that reminded Obsidian painfully of her Beta, Pheasant, lunged at her, pinning her paws down. "You need to stay down until Alpha sees fit for The Killing," the brown-and-cream male growled, his eyes sparking maliciously. The Killing? What is he talking about... I don't think it's good, whatever it is, Obsidian thought apprehensively. Slowly, as the wolves lost interest in her, she let herself drift back into the comforting, painless darkness where nothing bad ever happened... She was jerked awake, suddenly, by a sharp nip on the back of her neck. Her eyelids sprang open and she let the faintest suggestion of a growl rumble in her exposed throat. "It's time," a grey male hissed into her ear, and Obsidian could feel the spark of electrical excitement in his pelt. "Get up you dog!" spat the brown-and-cream male, lashing her flank with his paw. Obsidian gave a faint yelp of pain as new, fresh blood splattered across her side. She dragged herself to her paws, trying to make her eyes look as dangerous as she could, and slowly limped after EmberPack. There was a noise behind her and she swung around, hackles raised, prepared to feel more EmberPack claws raking her pelt. And paused. As she passed, she spotted a miserable-looking bracken-coloured pup with bulging blue veins in his eyes and one of his front paws. Horror thumped in her throat, making her pause. She could sense that aura of power around the pup, the same one she felt herself when she had brawled with Ember, the same one she'd seen other wolves react to when she passed them.... The pup was a Lunar Warrior. Obsidian was jolted out of her horrified thoughts by a harsh growl and yet another searing pain across her spine. "Hurry up, weakling," one of the EmberPacks snarled, gnashing his long front teeth. As Obsidian emerged into the watery sunlight, blinking, she spotted something that turned her blood and her heart to ice. Ember was standing there, smugly, with a ring of vicious, tough-looking wolves standing around him. Obsidian's escorts shoved her roughly into the middle of the circle, face-to-face with Ember, and melted away to rejoin the ring themselves. Ember looked down at Obsidian, his eyes sparking with hatred and vicious amusement. "Help me now!" he bellowed suddenly. "-Help me to take down DarkPack, starting with their filthy leader. The Killing has begun!" And with those words, he lunged at Obsidian, jaws outstretched, and sank his teeth into her neck.
