Day 27: I received a letter early in the morning from Star, telling us to meet her in the woods right now. Quickly yet confused, we ran off to meet her. It was very chilly, and only a few birds were chirping. The woods were misty. Finally, we heard Star and ran to her voice, clutching our coats. We found her near a clearing, holding a piece of parchment. A very similar piece of parchment. At the same time, me, Low, and Mango gasped. We knew what this was. “You-you wouldn’t!” Said Low disbelieving, her eyes locked on LI’S parchment paper in Star’s hand. “No way.” I breathed. “How?!” Said Mango. Star waited for us to calm down before talking. “Li dropped it yesterday. I was going to return it, I promise! But we might as well read it.” Star didn’t understand. Low, Mango, and I had seen how protective the counselors had been about the parchment. We shared a look. “Come on guys! Just a peek.” We gave in. “Ok,” said Star, laying it on the ground. “I’ll open it in 3, 2, 1..” As soon as she touched it, we heard a terrible sucking sound. We turned around and- It was the same host, from the night outside the mansion. We froze, as she raised an old hand in front of them. “Back!” Shouted Star at her, making a gesture like parting a curtain. This held it back for three seconds, but it broke through. “What-“ “Come one Star? Run!” I grabbed her hand and we all ran back to camp. At the last moment I grabbed the parchment, hearing the creatures angry howls behind me. We ran, and ran, and didn’t stop until we were at the lake. Panting, I gasped “It’s her! The same host!” “I know!” Said Star. “She didn’t even listen to me this time! Not even with the blocking charm.” “Wait,” I paused. “You can do magic?” “Sorta.” “That’s SO awe-“ “Guys, stay on the topic.” Interrupted Low. “That thing only came for us WHEN we opened the scroll. We shouldn’t read that thing!” “What do we do with it then?” Said Mango. We all stared. “Hi girls.” Said a voice behind us. Some how, it spooked me as much as the host. It was Li. “I believe you have something of mine.” She said cooly. I gulped and handed her the paper. “Thank you.” She said calmly. Than, she walked near a shadow and disappeared. We all held our breath. Finally Low turned to us. “What do we do?”
