TODAY WAS the day! I would show Hana how much she really meant to me, and she’d fall instantly for me instead of that— twerp! Who doesn’t even know he’s dealing with the most amazing girl in Kemar. After Peter’s sudden re-appearance, I went to find her. She was kneeling on the floor in her room, tears streaming down her cheeks. I felt my eyes widen as I rushed to her side. “Hana…” I said, trying to get her attention. No response followed. “Hanna…?” I prodded her side. She shook her head, gulping for air. “What’s wrong?” I asked, scooting closer to her, allowing her to cry into my shoulder. She shook her head again, wrapping her arms around me, chest heaving. I had never seen her like this before. What if she constantly hides her true feelings? I thought. We stayed like that for many minutes. I wrapped my own arms around her, tangling one of my hands in her beautiful brown hair, pressing her face into my shoulder. After this, I doubted I would need anything else to keep me alive. Just Hana. Hana cuddled closer to me, giving a relieved sigh. “What’s the matter?” I questioned once again. “Peter is going to war,” she wimpered, sniffling. I fought back a victorious laugh. Now my — once troubles — won’t be a problem anymore! I thought, cuddling closer to her. How I wished that moment would have gone on for eternity! Her chest heaved again, and she burrowed closer to me. A contented sigh escaped my lungs. I bet my neck, placing my nose in her soft, sweet-smelling, hair. She inhaled a sharp breath, and pulled away, blushing, though one hand remained on my chest. I caught it with both of mine, avoiding the urge to kiss it. “I’m fine now,” she said, smiling. She tried to wrench her hand from mine, but I held it fast, my breath catching in my throat as I gazed into her hazel eyes. “Why I came to find you,” I began, guessing at what she was about to say, “I…” my words seized. Why did I decide to tell her? I thought. “Well whatever the reason, thank you.” I nodded, deciding to go off what I had just planned. “Do you want to go to Haleina’s?” She hesitated, then nodded, still sniffing. Hana and I stepped into the large, white building soaking wet. I held my arm out in a gesture to take her cloak. She did, draping the thin, patched, cotton cloak over my arm. My instincts told me to gram onto her hand, and press her against the wall, where I could tell her how much I really loved her. My mind was consumed with her. I feared insanity if I wasn’t ever able to tell her just how much she meant to me. Her eyes… soft, beautiful eyes. The perfectness of her face. Her lips. The sweetness of her voice. Her laughter. I sighed under the gaze of her hazel eyes, nodding absent-mindedly at whatever she had been saying. “What was that?” she asked, involuntarily bringing me to the moment. “I’m sorry… what did you say?” I asked. “What do you make of this whole… war business?” she repeated. “I think I — I mean the prince — shouldn’t have to marry the princess of Simrieg just for some stupid alliance that won’t help our situation at all.” She nodded. “I think that too. People shouldn’t be forced into wedlock just for the sake of helping their country when there are other options to help both kingdom’s situation. It’s not even for love! They barely even know each other. Yet, they make the same vows as a couple who are in love.” Believe me, I thought, if I could marry for love, you’d be more affected by it than anyone else. I nodded. “Good reasoning,” Her beautiful hazel eyes lit up. “Thank you!” I nodded in the means of saying you’re welcome. “I commend those who have married for love, they have really triumphed,” she continued. The rest of her words turned to gibberish as I lost myself in her hazel eyes.

Description

Read ^ first! -------------------------------------------------------------------- The food didn’t matter to me; I wasn’t hungry. The events of the day so far, and those hazel… alluring… eyes… kept me content. On the way back to Wildwood, the air was clear. My hand itched to hold hers. Swinging it at my side in my usual fashion didn’t help. I held my arms tightly to my body, but my hand still twitched nearer to her hand. I grabbed it. She blushed, but didnt’ tear it away. I turned to offer her a sheepish smile. She smiled wearily back, her eyes glowing. I wished my life would be like this forever. The sun halfway gone, I considered crushing my lips to hers, taking her hand, and seeing how I felt like that. If she pulled away, that wouldn’t be my fault. I could always do it again. No, she still has Peter. He’s just… a jerk. She doesn’t know any better. I thought as we continued walking to the school. The sun had gone to sleep by the time we got back. I wanted to keep holding her hand! And do so many things! I reluctantly let go after giving a light kiss on her knuckles as the royals did. What was I thinking!? I was a prince! I shouldn’t have been this attracted to a peasant girl with barely enough money to live by, no title, and already has her special someone! I’ll have to be content with her eyes looking in the direction of a jerk rather than me, I thought sadly. As I recounted the day, a rebellious part of me thought, Her someone is going to war. She won’t be needing him for a long time. I sniggered. He’s not much of a deserving man either. More like an acting tag-along. ------------------------------------------------------------------ huzzah. YOU GUYS! GUESS WHAT? I HAVE ALMOST 30 CHAPTERS. Well, technically I'm just starting 31 chapters. BUT. Hi humanoids. It's me. I have started chapter 31, but I am VERY stuck. Woohoo. Me out
