Frostfur had given birth to two healthy kittens, a tom and a she-cat. Frostfur was curled up with her kittens, sleeping after the long kitting. Spottedleaf nodded, knowing the other queens would look after Frostfur. Speckletail, her belly swollen, waved to Spottedleaf from across the nursery. Spottedleaf exited the den and the warm sun beamed down on her pelt. She saw Firepaw and Ravenpaw chattering near the Apprentice den, Emberkit bounding up and down. The orange she-cat was eager to please the two apprentices, and Spottedleaf realized her apprentice ceremony would be soon. In fact, Firepaw and Ravenpaw would be warriors soon, followed by Graypaw. Of course, Redstar might have to delay their apprentice ceremony, Spottedleaf thought, her ears flicking, or else Emberkit would be the sole apprentice. Spottedleaf had hoped that Emberkit would’ve taken interest in being a medicine cat, but she wanted to be a warrior. Maybe one of Frostfur’s kits.... That golden tom looked promising. The white she-cat was, too. Spottedleaf smiled and went into her den. How good it was to know ThunderClan was safe. —> Part 2 (of ch. 8) <— Ravenpaw and Firepaw were training by themselves. Longtail and Tigerclaw were both on patrol, and so the two apprentices went to battle in the forest. Firepaw was good, Ravenpaw thought, Tigerclaw wasn’t bluffing! Firepaw tripped Ravenpaw as he tried to charge at him. “Wow! Teach me that move!” Ravenpaw mewed, laughing. “Alright, let me rest for a moment. Beating you is tiring.” Firepaw teased, and Ravenpaw batted at his ear playfully. “Have you seen Frostfur’s new kits?” Ravenpaw asked. “Not yet.” Firepaw replied. “One is named Birdkit, and she looks super fluffy. The other, a yellow tom, is named Sunkit.” Ravenpaw described the kittens. “Wow, maybe we’ll even get to mentor one of them!” Firepaw puffed. “Yeah, and Emberkit will be an apprentice soon.” “I can’t wait to show her the territory.” Firepaw meowed. “Let’s get back to that battle move,” Ravenpaw mewed.
