Bluestar?" Redtail hissed, worried. Where could the frail, hysteric leader be? He decided to get some help from Clanmates. That'll be a good idea. He jumped up to the highrock. "Clanmates, we must find Bluestar! She is missing!" The Clan murmured, worried. Longtail and Firepaw looked up to Redtail, eager to help. "We'll go on a patrol with you, Redtail, to find her." Longtail offered, and Firepaw nearly bounded on his paws. "Ok," Redtail nodded, "Firepaw, Longtail, and... Sandpaw, you'll all come with me to check the RiverClan border. Dustpaw, Darkstripe, and Runningwind, you check the ShadowClan border, and Whitestorm and Graypaw, you two check near Twolegplace." Then he bounded from camp with his patrol, to find his missing leader. He thought they'd been searching for hours. It was past sunhigh, and they'd checked the cracks and dens in the rocks, but there was no sign of Bluestar. Redtail only stopped when he heard a noise. "Oh! ThunderClan!" He looked across the river to see Oakheart and Stonefur, supporting something under their weight. "Hold on, Oakheart, get to the shallows." Stonefur nodded to the direction of the shallow water. The two RiverClan cats swam across the river to Redtail's patrol. Firepaw gasped. "They have Bluestar!" Redtail stiffened as he realized the apprentice was right. "Now, let's not just be hasty here," Oakheart said, watching the death glare Longtail was shooting at him. "She just ran on straight into camp and collapsed. No idea why." No idea why, Redtail thought, No idea why, my pelt! I'll bet you know exactly why. Oakheart shot Redtail a glance this time. Does he know I know? Redtail thought again. But Oakheart just shrugged, and placed the unconscious leader on Sunningrocks before bounding into the river and out of sight. Stonefur stared at Redtail. "Sunningrocks is ours, Redtail." He said, in not a threatening voice, but a gentle warning. Dread dawned on Redtail. Bluestar had told RiverClan everything. --> Part 2 (of ch. 5) <-- Firepaw sat outside the nursery, playing with a kit who had the same color pelt as his own. Firepaw rolled over and kicked with his back legs, glad the patrol was over. "Show me again!" The little kit mewed. "Ok, Ok, like this, Emberkit." He repeated the move. Still, Redtail seemed pretty upset, Firepaw thought. "I did it!" Emberkit squeaked. "I hope I'll be an apprentice soon." "Not for four moons, you little stinker," Goldenflower mewed from inside the nursery. Firepaw smiled. He couldn’t have had any of this with his kittypet life!
